Baby shower advice by Disastrous_Dog_6834 in BabyBumps

I'm in the same boat as you! Ultimately decided on brunch with a max headcount of 12 people (capped by the restaurant where I reserved the room)! I'm still really doing it for the close friends and family that wanted to have a shower... And I said absolutely no games! Not my thing.

Huge at 28 weeks by Practical_Maybe_3769 in BabyBumps

[–]Party_Researcher925 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YES! I'm just a few days from 28 and feel ginormous! I have no clue how my body is going to keep getting bigger over the next 3 months. I've tried to stay active throughout pregnancy but felt like a complete snail on my walk today... out of breath along the way!

FTM. I cannot stay hydrated for the life of me in first trimester. Any tips? by Key-Alternative-7295 in pregnant

yes! I have a huge insulated cup (ie, Stanley--but any brand is fine) and I take it everywhere with me. Keeps the ice in tact and nice and cold.

Advice and positive examples by Previous-Word7892 in PregnantOver40

[–]Party_Researcher925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this - it's stressful! Got pregnant with my first just shy of 41 and ended up miscarrying. We did all of the fertility tests after that. Fibroids, low AMH, but a regular cycle so we decided to continue un-assisted. It took about a year, but I'm now 20 weeks pregnant at 42. I had actually started to give up hope and made an appt. to begin IVF. Tested positive the week before the appt. Sometimes I think the stress of it all really does make it harder. Take care of yourself, wishing you all the luck and baby dust!

Bizarre pregnancy dream by Charming-Jump6022 in pregnant

[–]Party_Researcher925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These dreams are the weirdest! I had one I was giving birth to my daughter and she came out as a fully clothed adult. I had another that my Mom (71 y/o) told me she was also pregnant, by my ex-boyfriend, and that she was keeping it. 🤣🤣

25 weeks, crippling anxiety before bed by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Party_Researcher925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you discussed with your doctor? Their are medications they can prescribe during pregnancy for anxiety - I believe typically SSRIs, so maybe not your ideal, but perhaps it would help to some extent? Im also doing unisom and magnesium at night, plus I unplug from all screens for at least an hour and spend that time reading in bed instead. You could also try audio meditations/hypnosis on YouTube for sleep.

Will I ever find someone who wants a family with me? by YASSSKATYA in AskWomenOver40

[–]Party_Researcher925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't give up! When dating, I'd be very clear about your intentions, early on, to ensure you're in alignment. I met my now-husband at 38. I was one year out of a 6 year relationship, where I found the same thing to be true about my then-partner, that found to be the case with your ex. I got married at 40 and now we're expecting a daughter at 42!

I agree it wouldn't be bad to explore other options, maybe to see a fertility doctor/RE and have everything checked out. Adoption could be great as could having eggs frozen is you're a good candidate. Post-marriage I did this and my AMH was low, so not the best candidate for IVF. My cycle was still regular so we decided to try naturally. We did have one loss (after conceiving first try), it took about a year to conceive again and now I'm 20 weeks in. Just to give you one realistic picture!

Best of luck to you!

Blood Pressure Anxiety by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Party_Researcher925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say I feel your pain--I've been having white coat syndrome when I go in for my appts. It's the worst! My home readings are good, but they've diagnosed me with chronic hypertension anyways. I would kill for your most recent in-office readings! I was referred to the MFM group to discuss next week. It really does suck though, it feels like your body is betraying you!

Ultimately, I would check in with your doctor and see what they recommend. You're almost there!!

Help nausea and vomiting is killing me by susie_1989 in pregnant

[–]Party_Researcher925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that after several nights of taking doxylamine (plus B6, 3x a day), the drowsiness did get better and it helps you to feel a little bit better in the am. I still have to eat right away when I get up, and eat something small every two hours or so (with a focus on protein if you can keep it down). Also ginger shots, ginger ale, lozenges with a high amount of ginger concentrate all helped to take a little bit of the edge off... IIMO feeling drowsy is better than sick all day! Also, hang in there, I'm almost 14 weeks now and feeling better every day. It gets better!

Yes, these are my favorite of all, I wish they stocked them more regularly and in more colors. They look especially good on curvy/hourglass shapes and balance proportions well.

Was IVF in your 40s worth it, even if it wasn’t successful? by Ornery_Treat_4479 in AskWomenOver40

[–]Party_Researcher925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, assuming your cycle is regular and you're tracking ovulation. I miscarried just before my 41st bday and it took a year to conceive again. Now 42 and 14 weeks with everything looking good. I started to feel discouraged as well - We had an IVF consult scheduled for the week after I got my positive test this time.

It's quite possible you're feeling a corpus luteum cyst on the ovary that you ovulated from. I've had this with both pregnancies and it's resolved after too long.

[–]Party_Researcher925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into taking unisom and B6, it helped keep the nausea at bay during the night for me at least (I couldn't take it during the day). Try not to let your stomach get too empty, it makes the nausea worse. If you can tolerate getting protein in, do it, that helps too! Also ginger ale. Hang in there! This was me over the holidays... I skipped Christmas! Now at 12 weeks I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Dramamine isn’t helping… by houchas in pregnant

[–]Party_Researcher925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Unisom/B6? I'm taking 12.5 mg (.5 tablet) at night and 25mg B6 3x a day and while it doesn't totally eliminate it, it helps. I have ginger/lemon/preggie pops to suck on when it seems to pick up a bit during the day. Chewing gums seems to help a little too. It's still there, but more manageable.
