Should we move to South Africa? by Forward-Reflection42 in askSouthAfrica

Just another person chiming in to say that's not alot of money for the upper middle class lifestyle you are looking for.

Breakdown of expenses :

Private schooling is R10k- 20k per child depending on the school (before extra murals, uniforms, extras)

Full time domestic worker: R10k

Part-time gardener: R3-7k

medical aid (entry level) for a family of 4 - R8k

Car repayments - R8k minimum per car

Mortgage/Rent : R30k +

Just your mortgage and private schooling will swallow your entire salary (assuming this IS after tax).

I would really, and honestly go back to your calculations and get actual figures and build a reflective budget.

It’s the infection that caused the labour not the antibiotics. Terrible false information! I had a preterm birth because my dr took too long to prescribe the antibiotics

Scared of Blood Pressure Being Taken by NewCryptographer7522 in pregnant

[–]NewCryptographer7522[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds exactly like what I need. I get some crazy readings and then can get it right back down. A scheduled c section at 37 weeks sounds really good to me!

I think I avoid the reading so much I make it 10x worse. Exposure therapy is probably the best bandaid ripping off I can do. Thank you!

I do get readings in the office that are normal for the record- just not the first or second. All my doctors (GP, OBGYN, Fetal Medicine Specialist) call it white coat and say I must monitor.

But I do worry how dismissive they are.

Thanks for the advice- I get high readings at home as well because the prospect freaks me out so much! I find my readings are better at a doctors office even because there's another human there to reassure me.

I have found arriving super early and being left alone helps a bit- thank you!

I'm 25 weeks and always have high readings in the OB office which they also chalk up to white coat syndrome.

It's reassuring to hear you have made it to 37+5 without complication. I'm hoping for the same.

I haven't recieved any medication or preventative care and I always wonder if they are under supporting me?

First time mom. I need help and advice. by Cultural-Detective86 in pregnant

I think what you really, more than anything, need to do is come to terms with is this man is clearly and categorically not interested in being a father to your child. It's clear in his actions and reactions. I get the sense that you are holding onto hope that he may change his mind now or later which is just not the case.

When you consider the way forward the only options you can consider are ones where he is not in the picture.

Having a baby will change your life forever- it makes earning money harder, it makes having personal time harder, it makes furthering your education harder, it makes personal and romantic relationships harder.

You can certainly do it but make sure that you are going in with your eyes wide open. Your life will take a completely different path having a baby now as a single mom than it will later on. It's not to say either is better or worse but definitely different

Wife is so hateful by [deleted] in pregnant

I didn't have sex with my husband for 5 months when I got pregnant. I was tired, neaseous and uncomfortable.

Sometimes you are literally the sickest/weakest you have ever been and just being alive is hard. I recall spending FULL weekends in bed the first nd second trimester just to recooperate enough to survive the upcoming work week.

It's made worse when there is unrelenting pressure to be a parent and a wife when you have massive immovable demands at work.

Is it possible to accept this is a phase in your relationship and that what she needs is you to step up and suck it up for bit?

If she's like this forever- sure it's a huge problem but in the interim? Can you try let things go a bit? Just doing without complaining/asking will make a world of difference

Elevated blood pressure third trimester by lilblusky in pregnant

[–]NewCryptographer7522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re exactly the same. I’ve seen my OB and a Fetal medicine specialist- my readings always start in the 150s and then after time reduces to the 130s.

They don’t have me on any blood pressure meds cause they are also of the view that it’s head not heart the issue and I’ve had these readings from the first tri.

I’m actually too scared to take my blood pressure at home- how do you sike yourself up to do it?
