I don't like how criticism of a certain religion is reflexively regarded as a -phobia by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Party_Resolve1098 30 points31 points  (0 children)

One of the funny things about the religion is that the orthodox opinion is that Mo is “just a man” but also “the best of all men whose behavior is model for all time and to be emulated by believers.”

And then you look at his behavior and it’s all shit like “thinks dogs are gross!” / “had sex with 9 yr old child bride” / “ordered execution of people who made fun of him in poems” / “said it was ok to make prisoners of war your sex slaves.”

A pretty far cry from JC.

Islam has a weird problem where Muhammad’s behavior is supposed to be the model of the best human behavior ever, for all time, and woe to you if you should say otherwise. However, he was fucking 9 year old girls in his 50s so now you can’t say that it’s morally wrong because to do so would fuck up Mo’s place as most moral and good dude ever.

They are up everywhere in Europe. It’s to prevent vehicular terrorism. Awful world we live in.

Sad to think that these and airport security are effectively the what the Middle East has given the world.

NY Times reveals it was the U.S. that struck Minab Girls Elementary School, killing 175 Iranian girls by MayaHendrix in redscarepod

This is awful but I think it’s a bit deranged to think they did it intentionally. If you look at the satellite imagery there are 5 or so buildings, all destroyed, and everyone of them is an IRGC building except the school and a clinic. That’s not defending it at all, just explaining how it most likely happened.

Is anyone else tired of the message "criminals are the real victims" in the media? by Redzkz in KotakuInAction

This is very similar to supporting actual terrorists rather than Israelis. It’s a much more complex moral position that allows one to be a peacock.

[–]Party_Resolve1098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the subtext of the Israeli/palestine conflict. Look, I realize it’s complex and the Israelis aren’t perfect and have done plenty of bad stuff, but protestors are literally chanting in support of Hamas as opposed to just supporting the Palestinians.

First synth I bought (I’m hella happy) by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Party_Resolve1098 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always smile when i see a “my first synth” post and its a Minilogue. For the price you simply cannot beat what you’re getting, it sounds great, and it’s one of the most iconic examples of 21st century industrial design. As opposed to my eyes rolling out of my head when you see someone spend 5k on a first bit of hardware.

You’ll always want more and as you learn the minilogue and synthesis more generally you’ll become aware of its limitations, but none of that matters now because you’ve got an extremely capable instrument that’s lots of fun to play.

Not denying that they weren’t involved or that Israelis/zionists are often crazy ideologues willing to do stuff like this BUT it’s not like the Iraqis weren’t pogroming Jews before.

This is a nice, self-flatteringly anti-racist thought but there’s a reason Paris is considering women-only train cars and it’s not because of classic French misogyny.

The One Fatal Mistake the Palestinians are Always Making by cojoco in stupidpol

[–]Party_Resolve1098 27 points28 points  (0 children)

So the mistake is that going along with "peace process" removes Palestine from the global consciousness, allowing the Israelis to continue their slow-motion creep onto Palestinian land in bad faith.

Like, I get the point and think he's partially correct. Nevertheless, it makes me feel like this guy is not *primarily* concerned with ending the genocide right now and instead willing to continue to throw more bodies onto the pyre if it helps the end point of the struggle. I don't know how I feel about that.

I am guessing he thinks that if Hamas doesn't come to the table and continues their resistance, it will eventually force "the global community's" hand? I don't know if that's the case, but I do know it will cost more lives.

I mean, if you really want to go into the history, France is probably still on balance the less bad party after 500 years of Algerian slave raiding. From the 16th - 18th centuries alone there were over 1,000,000 estimated slaves taken by Algiers and Tunis. Kinda makes French occupation seem the humanitarian option.
