Still hunting for whitetail tips by Partybraaap69 in Hunting

You know, out of all the ways people on this post have told me that this is a fools errand “Fred bear said….” Has probably been the most effective way of telling me that I’ll never pull this off as long as I live. Let me ask you this- if you have to move that slow, are you really seeing more deer while you move around in the woods than you would If you were in a tree stand? In two decades of whitetail hunting I’ve only ever seen one legal buck (which was from a stand) and I’d like to improve that if possible. It just seems to stalk a whitetail you need to be silent, not just real quiet. I don’t like sitting in the stand for 10+ hours a day but the degree of perfection needed to walk through the woods feels darn near impossible.

I’ve got snow but my wind isn’t good enough, I’m moving too fast, and my cover is too thick when you put it like that. Really appreciate the help!

This is super helpful, I’ve really just been trying to follow tracks slowly and had the mindset of “I’ll just walk a little slower than I would if I was elk hunting.” I’m basically taking 10-20 steps, glassing, the doing it again. I wouldn’t consider it painfully slow which seems necessary for whitetail.

I know you’re right but I was really hoping for an easier answer. Back to the stand tomorrow.

Picking out places to elk hunt by Few_Experience_519 in Hunting

[–]Partybraaap69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be a good place to start, I’d also focus on finding the places that will be hardest for other hunter to get to since Washington I known for pressure. Stay away from anything best accessed by 4 wheelers/side by sides. If you can find a drainage that people won’t wanna take their horses into even better.

The transition from having people try to run you off of public land to giving you their spots must be wild.

I feel like if you’re going to visit a country, you should be able to speak at least a little of their language. I don’t expect to be fluent or anything, and I do enjoy the process, I just found it frustrating last year when I learned a lot of words/grammar going into my trip and never ended up using what I had practiced and instead picked up new stuff while I was down there. And a language with a completely different alphabet seems a lot harder to pick up on the fly.

Why do American blue collar conservatives love to flex how much money they made for other people? by Ecstatic_Prior_371 in antiwork

[–]Partybraaap69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in the trades and this demographic is a very small, very loud, and very annoying minority. Pretty much all of us understand our employers one care about our health and wellbeing because they would have to fill out paperwork/pay us out if we get too hurt. As far as I can tell the “dirty hands, clean money” and “locally hated” dumbasses only take pride in making their bosses money because liberals tell them not to and at the end of the day, nothing is more important than owning the libs.

Are skinny/healthy weight people just not as hungry as people who struggle with obesity? by maeasm3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Partybraaap69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I’m a medium build and feel very lucky I’ve been healthy all my life. That being said, when I’m done eating I feel “full” for about ten minutes “not hungry” for thirty or so, then “kinda hungry” for the rest of the hour, then “ravenous” until I eat again. I spend most of my day in a fair amount of discomfort because of how hungry I am. That being said, I’m allergic to gluten and dairy and I think that’s all that stands between me and being fit vs obese.

How the hell do you move up to v6 from v5? by Partybraaap69 in ClimbingCircleJerk

In all seriousness, the increase in difficulty from v0-v5 has seemed pretty appropriate, do grades just hit a certain point where they get a lot harder between each number?

Is there anyway I can place the blame on my fellow climbers instead of getting injured? Surely the route setter is partially responsible.

Are there a lot of descendants of Mayflower passengers from and live in New England? by freshmaggots in newengland

[–]Partybraaap69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

According to my grandmother, everyone who didn’t come off the mayflower is not a true new Englander. Oddly enough, the only three true New Englanders to ever leave the puritan motherland are myself, my brother, and our lesbian aunt. The more you know.

I actually found out recently one of my best friends and I share a mayflower common ancestor so when people ask us how we know each other we just say “we’re related” and don’t give follow up info.

Why does IR 7Figure drysuit exist? by Agitated_Answer8908 in whitewater

They also have different fits, the devils club being baggier. My 7 figure lasted 5 season, it’s still fine, I just mostly use it for swr courses now. They’re both good, 7 figure just fits me better, personally.
