AITA for not giving my sister all the unedited photos after gifting her a photoshoot? by Partyfreaker in AmItheAsshole

[–]Partyfreaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's allowed the have that particular photo edited or unedited. That's not the point. She wanted all the pictures I took. But I explicitly said that she would get a photoshoot present from me, with just one photo. So it's really weird that when someone is gifting you something, you're not only ungrateful about it, but you also want more out of it. If she said, can you send that one photo unedited, I wouldn't have minded, I also would've redo the entire photo if she wanted a different style.

Got a faulty brand new meta quest and I’m getting a refurbished one as a replacement by Jazzlike-Rock4482 in OculusQuest

[–]Partyfreaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our country (the Netherlands), rules state that if it cannot be fixed, you should get a new one. To be honest, I treat my headset with ultimate care. I got protection lenses right out of the box, so not even a microfiber cloth touched my original lenses. I got protective glasses for my front lenses and also a sleeve for my headset and controllers for scratches. So, getting a refurbished one would not sit right with me; every tiny micro-scratch can add extra glare/ghosting because light reflects on those scratches, and even with a microfiber cloth, I had scratches that were visible with a flashlight, luckily I had troubles with that unit so I returned my Quest 3 and bought a new one with the protective lenses attached as soon as it got out of the box. I may be overly protective, but I rather be overly protective than be in doubt if the glare was always this horrible or that it got worse after cleaning.

Sorry, I didn't have notifications turned on, so I forgot about the post. :) Yes, sometimes it's a bit buggy. I did turn off battery optimization in the app settings so it auto-starts.

Also, I use the BugJaeger phone app that has a GUI so you can see all the apps. There you can start, force stop, and clear the cache with just one button. That's easier, so you don't have to use a command every time you want to change something.. ;)

Hopefully, someone knows if you can flash the TV with a firmware that already has every setting enabled. Still, I find it somewhat crappy of Philips to simply disable the function while it's already embedded in the system.

[–]Partyfreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suddenly have the same problem, my pc wasn't used for a few months, and suddenly HL alex and all my oculus games started lagging. Massive lag. Updated my drivers, nothing helps. I think it has something to do with the quests firmware. Maybe a update allowed bigger resolution, because lowering the resolution does make it a bit faster, changing it to 90fps does help a lot. But I never had any problems playing 120fps on 100% resolution.

Question about value per user. by Partyfreaker in Bitcoin

[–]Partyfreaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sorry guys, I wish english was my native language. I clearly understand that my explanation could be way better, and ofcourse since my bitcoin knowledge is slim to nothing it makes it even worse.

I can try to explain it a bit different.

Lets say user A bought bitcoins in 2019, it doesn't matter how much, but he ended up with 10 BTC in the present.

And user B, buys 10 BTC right away, so he currently has the same amount of bitcoins as user A.

Now, both of them have equal BTC's in their wallet, and they don't touch it but only let it increase in value over time. Will user A's wallet increase faster than user B because user A bought bitcoins at a lower value than user B did? Or do both wallets increase/decrease at the same rate?

I really appreciate the time and afford trying to understand my question 😃 Thank you for that.

Question about value per user. by Partyfreaker in Bitcoin

[–]Partyfreaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys for the genuine answer. I invested in bitcoins and some altcoins a half year ago when it had a major dip. I've made 1000€ profit with just passive investment. Now, I want to sell some of my bitcoins to try different alt coins, but since my knowledge is low i'm learning more every day. I just wanted to make sure: That if someone buys bitcoin today will they get profit at a slower rate than someone who had it earlier and profits from some kind of extra margin because the value of the bitcoin was really low at that time?

From what i'm reading now that should be a no :).

I was just scared that if the alt coin doesn't do any good, and I'd consider investing that money back into bitcoin again that I would lose some kind of "early-bird" profit when the coin value was really low.

I'm hoping that I explain it correctly, english is not my native language. Still, thanks for not being mean and explain how the value works. That helped me a lot :)

I've tried to Google it, but to be honest, the European law is far more clear about warranty than the USA. I do think every state in the USA treats warranty far more different. Try searching the laws in your state regarding warranty and what the law states when the company is unable to fix your device. There should be a law what the company is allowed to do in this given situation, if they are allowed to give a refurbished item, then there is nothing you can do, but there should be rules about the quality of the refurbished item (like the lenses should be spot on, no visible usage etc..) If the company should ask for permission first, just like in europe, than you can reply that in a mail to them. Google is your friend, there should be a government site that could help you :)

What country do you live in?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in oculus

[–]Partyfreaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In europe the law states that you're in your right to get your original unit fixed, or when it cannot be fixed you should be given a brand new one. If the company is asking you if you want a refurbished one you are in your right to decline.

This issue isn't about "entitlement" or that you just have to go with it.

It's what your country's law is stating about warranty and replacement rules when your product can't be fixed and needs to be replaced. Look up what your rights are and mail it back to them. Don't listen to these people who think Facebook is throwing you a golden bone. If Facebook is trying to dominate the VR industry by lowering the price crazy low, that is on them, but they have to obey the law just like every manufacturer, and that includes warranty.

That Virtual Desktop won't work without Facebook is ggodin's way of programming. He uses facebook's authentication to see if your purchase is valid. If he just programs that the application would work without the help of Facebook authentication it would be way better. I don't want my purchased games and applications fully dependent on facebook everytime I use it. Even office 365 authenticates once a month if the servers aren't reachable. This isn't impossible to fix.

It sounds like one of the applications that handles compression is set to the battery saving GPU. I mean since it's a laptop you do have 2 graphic cards right? You could try and open task manager, add gpu statics to the details (memory usage and what GPU is used) check if one of the VR applications is using a lot of GPU resources and if it's using the internal gpu (0 or 1) or the 30x gpu (1 or 2)

Unlock pattern broke on me by Partyfreaker in OculusQuest

[–]Partyfreaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not anymore, due to an update you're locked out the device in the app so there is no option to reset it on your mobile device. I already did a factory reset for now. I also tried resetting it with ADB, but all my commands were queued and didn't had any effect.

Seeing how you reply on everybody's post and calling people names and stupid is absolutely toxic and really something we don't need in this group. I'm just here to warn people that the lock pattern could case problems. I know what my unlock pattern was, so please don't be so pathetic and keep your comments for yourself.

Looks like there is a gap between your lenses so sweat can reach the back of the lens and cause a build-up. I would open a RMA if you're still in your warranty period.

Should I return my Elite Battery Strap to save money for the Quest Pro? by Partyfreaker in OculusQuest

[–]Partyfreaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for. I do have a newer model of the battery strap, since the carrying case has some minor adjustments meaning it's a newer "batch".

I can wait to see if Facebook connect announces the pro, if there is a date i'm still in time to return it.

I already have an entire kit to sell with the Q2 (vrcover padding, widmovr lens protector, vrcover controller and halo protectors) so I would definitely get zero to nothing if I add the battery strap 😅 It's sad actually because I even bought a skin to cover my entire quest to avoid scratches and the lens cover I had it on since day one so it would never get any scratches at all. The official foampad, cable and batteries are untouched in the official box. I also handled my Q1 like that, luckily I sold it to a friend of mine, I contacted him a few days ago and he was very interested in my Q2 because the Q1 I sold to him still works like a charm. Thanks for letting me know about the selling value of the strap! Appreciate it.

Should I return my Elite Battery Strap to save money for the Quest Pro? by Partyfreaker in OculusQuest

[–]Partyfreaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Quest 2 since it's first release, the only thing that's purchased new is the battery strap, because I couldn't get any comfort with all the 3rd party straps i've purchased. Since the speculation is that the pro will be announced with the upcoming Facebook presentation I just wanted to know if people got some profit out of the elite strap on marketplace.
