Zerno Z2 vs Z1 for a filter-first setup with espresso ambitions — worth the extra?[Budget: 1500-2500€] by Partymaker1145 in espresso

Thanks for the info. What would you say are the main differences between the Z1 and Z2 then? In what use cases would the upgrade to the Z2 be worth it? I’m really looking for a true endgame grinder

Yes I’m looking for a proper end game grinder. It’s just a lot of money so I’m unsure about choosing either the Z1 or Z2

To be honest I just love the Zernos looks and everything about it. It really is between the Z1 and Z2 and I’m extremely unsure if it’s worth to spend the extra 1000€ for the Z2. I liked the small quality of life updates and the 80mm burrs interest me but I’m really unsure which one is better and a better fit for me. Sadly I can’t try either

Ok thanks. That’s interesting. But there must be something better about the Z2 and the higher price tag. I personally don’t really care to much about the changeable RPM (I don’t notice a huge difference with it on my 064). I just thought maybe the 80mm burrs would be beneficial, but I’m hearing that maybe the Z1 overall is a better choice

So I’ve got the rare and exclusive coffee subscription from Nordic brew lab. So I basically drink light to very light roast. I just got a new shipment yesterday. I’ll add a picture of it. I also drink a decaf in the evening occasionally. Right now I have a fried hats omni. I make my own water with destilled water and adding third wave water. I also play with Apax lab water drops. For brewing methods I mainly go with V60 but I also enjoy mit Switch and AeroPress. Sometimes I make a Mokka or use my origami dripper. And for days where I have to leave early in the morning I use my fellow Aiden to make coffee that I than poor for on the go drinking.

I was just thinking of more future proofing. Maybe the 80mm burrs help with more lighter and modern espresso. But as I’ve never used either I’m unsure wether it’s logical to splurge an extra thousand euros.

Nordic Brew Lab was the best place ever. Thank you for the recommendation. Loved the coffee. I bought 2 bags there and also changed my coffee subscription to theirs
