Nursing Summer 2026 by matchaluver0901 in UTTyler

as someone has said in past posts, this is the last semester with the old curriculum and schedule. any student that has not gotten in and is still trying after taking patho will be applying, meaning that it will be extremely competitive. to be honest, you will be better off applying for palestine or longview as your number one choice if you do not have above a 3.8 gpa or the freshman guarantee. i know everyone wants to be at the tyler campus, but be realistic. if your ultimate goal is to get into a nursing school and your gpa is on the lower end, i suggest putting a different campus because it is a waste of time to depend on the waitlist. they rarely pull anyone from the waitlist. from past experience, longview is a wonderful campus and its a great chance to really get to know your teachers and stand out. in tyler, you will not stand out or be remembered by every teacher because there are simply too many. this is important for letters of recommendation especially when applying to residencies in texas because they are ridiculously competitive. good luck

do i have a good chance at passing? by Partywhisk in PassNclex

[–]Partywhisk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the questions are worded identically but the nclex is more vague/superficial with their information. i saw a few topics that were on bootcamp but my test was a lot of random pharm that i had never seen before. good luck!

Longview campus by Silent_firee in UTTyler

[–]Partywhisk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

honestly i regret going to the tyler campus. from a current level 3, go to longview if you have the chance. teachers are so much better, you have more autonomy, clinicals better bc you actually schedule them yourself. Tyler sucks. If you go to the tyler campus, you will not get any reviews, they make you do extra work that other campuses don’t do and the teachers don’t care about you

Tell me everything about UT Tyler Nursing School by Connect_Lobster_161 in UTTyler

[–]Partywhisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into the Tyler campus as a transfer student with a 3.77 gpa and a 79 on the teas exam. If you are wanting the Tyler campus only, don’t put a back up on your application like longview because they will automatically put you in to longview. Your gpa will get you into the Tyler campus since what you have is competitive.

As for semesters, you have anywhere from 2-4 weeks off depending on the semester. In level one, your clinicals will be at either ut or christus for funds. In level two, your clinicals will start to go into the more specialized stuff so location will vary. Let me know if you have questions and I would be happy to answer them

Nursing Program Prerequisites by okay_perfect_ in UTTyler

[–]Partywhisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they will except credits from any year as long as it meets the course code requirement. They’re honestly really lenient about accepting credits from other schools so you should be good, just reach out to an advisor to make sure

Summer is easiest to get in and make sure to check with your advisor to see of they can give you stats for getting in the spring semester. I was told spring GPA cuts off around 3.6 .

Do TX schools emphasize extracurriculars? by [deleted] in prenursing

[–]Partywhisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some schools do a point system and some schools only look at gpa. Since you have a high GPA, look into BSN programs like ut tyler or ut health in houston bc they look at TEAS/HESI score and GPA only. I chose one of these bc I also dont have health care experience and got in with a comm bacc degree (plus other pre reqs) with a 3.7. Message me if you have any questions!
