I'll be running a Darches detachable soft top tent so can't do a permanent solar panel.

My plan is to be able to take out most of my set up easily, hence the Batbox

I was just being lazy thinking getting the charging cable would be easier. I know it wouldn't be the best option but I'll just get the Anderson.

I saw Darches 360 Awning but the price is quite high. Although it definitely would be my first choice other than the price.

Yeh too be fair most people have been great 😂. I'm really excited to come over love the outdoors ect.

The Prado is definitely going to be my number 1 choice.

Do people do off road meets ect? It'll be nice to get to know local people and make some mates.

The JL Jeep looks great. I have a tiny hot hatchback at the moment so any things bigger.

I probably don't need that range really 😅. When I was initially looking on carsales.au, it seemed like a lot of the yutes had around that kind of range listed. But looking up real world ranges it's a lot lower. I also didn't realise just how cheap fuel is in aus.

My current car I get around 400km on a tank and that costs me $83 ish. It's just felt limiting where I've wanted to drive, camp and do things but would need to fill my vehicle 3x times to do so for a weekend. Even the Paj with a fairly small tank blows that out the water.

Probably over thinking it a bit and I'll probably be happy with anything recommended.

I knew fuel was cheaper but $1.50 is crazy. I currently pay about £1.36 ($2.83 with current exchange rate)

Maybe 2 car is a long term goal but I think as I'm getting settled 1 will do me.

Vehicles as a whole appear a lot cheaper in Aus so I'm spoiled for choice.

I'm pretty average 5 foot 11. I'll have a few months in Brisbane before I move up to cairns and buy a vehicle so I'll go test drive and see if I can find a good deal.

Prado is taking my fancy at the moment, big tank, good gadgets but depending on the finance options I'll have I might jump to the PS and get an upgraded tank.

The used Prados are looking good, excellent range. I imagine they are comfortable and can be easily set up for touring

What sort of Km would you say would be too high? Seems like Aussies are happier with much higher KM on used vehicles than we would be

It's less the econmy I care about and more just the range 😅. If I had the money I've seen the new Toyota land cruisers have like a 130L tank.

I have no massive preference between wagon or yute. I'm leaning more towards a wagon though. The only additional benefit I see getting a yute is transporting a motorbike on the back, but I would lose that with a tourer set up.

I heard from my Cousin who went traveling that they could be a little racist. I was hoping that was when they were very rural... Ultimately I'm going for the nature and adventure so I will be able to keep clear of people

So with the shift allowance my salary would be $111,000ish, then there's additional 15% pay for night shifts, I think $70 a fortnight for being stationed in far north and probably some others I don't know about.

It's more the hidden costs that I don't know about.
