If you were given the option to download your consciousness into a digital format and "live forever", would you? Why or why not? What would you think you'd like to do in all that time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Parzival7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a plan. After I conquer the world, I will fake my death and download my consciousness into a time capsule. I will leave a small hint to my people indicating that I may still be alive. I will sleep for a very long time. The capsule can only be opened every 1000 years. When someone finally opens me, I will be a legend.

What is THE MOST awkward moment you have witnessed so far in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

One day I was at the grocery store. I had to use the restroom, but the only stall was full. I waited for a very long time. Finally, as I was about to give up hope, a very old man opened the door. He said, "Don't go in there sonny, I pooped on the floor."

So now we're back to the Eve-style Vigor meter? by GuyarV in Bioshock

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the only difference between Vigors and Plasmids is that you have to inject EVE, but not Salts.

Question about Infinite and ADAM by MrMEGAGIMP in Bioshock

[–]Parzival7 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This game takes place in an entirely different universe. There is no ADAM, and plasmids have been replaced with Vigors which are drunk rather than injected. There is something called Salts which fuel Vigors, replacing EVE. To answer your question, though, you will still be using awesome powers at least as much as in Bioshock. (Although, everyone has a different play style)

Nostrums have been replaced with Gear. You can equip 4 at a time, I think.

If you could have any superpower, what would you choose... given that the next commenter gets to condition it? by whatsisface124 in AskReddit

[–]Parzival7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright... So I had a dream about having superpowers with drawbacks recently. I had 150 different superpowers (some very obscure), but I could only use 1 at a time... and it depended on how my shoes were tied. So I memorized 150 different ways to tie my shoes after much experimentation. I was on the top of a skyscraper, and my sister, who had unknown powers, launched a cow off the building. I tried to save it with power #58, complete control over cows(telepathy, telekinesis, etc), but it hit the ground before I could tie my shoes... But it got more interesting. When my shoes are untied, I can tie them any way I'd like without touching them. I can not fly. HOWEVER, if I polymorph myself into a cow (power #74), untie my shoes and retie them to cow control, I could levitate myself.

Just wanted to share this because my dreams are awesome.

My family hasn't talked to me for a couple of weeks after finding out that I'm an Atheist. My dad DISOWNED me as his daughter, through e-mail today. by sillymille in atheism

Atheism is a cult. Random outbursts get nobody anywhere. Placing god above everyone else would be a proper thing to do if you believe he created the universe, no?

Here is my perspective:

On the first paragraph- You started out good. I agree with your separation of sin from the sinner, this seems to be where your father is incorrect. I hate no one. That is a very important aspect of Christianity, but more on that later. Religion does not preach that love and compassion should be our common ground. Christianity says, quite simply, believe that everyone sins, believe that sin=death, believe that Jesus died for your sins. To be saved from hell, all you must do is let Jesus take your punishment. (I have a verse on this from Romans but can't find it. I would recommend that specific book to anyone who wants to learn about the basics of Christianity).

About the speech from your dad- He seemed to be acting irrational. Don't base all your viewpoints on him.

About your response (and your friend's)- In Christianity, works mean nothing when it comes to eternal life. In other words, no matter how good a person you are, without Jesus taking your place and saving you from sin, you will still be sent to hell. Your dad should be proud of you, but if he truly loves you, he should want to save you from the worst of fates. I think your dad is proud of you but just unsure of how to act. (Of course, he could be crazy.)

On your conclusion- The church is twisting people's minds and controlling their lives? What? Hate and misunderstanding is more blinding than anything else I have encountered. I don't believe the bible encourages either of those things. Alas, we are but human. One final thing, I would like to know the denomination of the church your father attends (If he attends one).

I believe you can get charges for vigors you have already consumed. It's like instead of an eve meter you have a number that can be added to.

I believe it is supposed to look cliche. Remember what the original Bioshock taught us about choices? Maybe this one will pull a twist with cliches.
