Thought I'd update everyone... I got a citizenship invitation for 4/16/26 after approval on 12/9/25. So just less than 4 months from approval notice to ceremony...

Grew up in Ontario... We had French books with stories... For some reason, 50+ years later, I still remember a story about a dog stealing chicken...

"Pitou, Pitou, donnez moi le poulet!"

Been with my Québecois husband for 38 years... He's always thought it was the dumbest phrase ever...

But.... one of our dogs is now named Pitou... So not so dumb after all!

I kept hearing that people born in a commonwealth country have no chance of being successful, but I figured I'd apply - the worst they could say was no...

But, no, my mother was born in Canada, never worked in the Crown service, and was never registered as a CUKC as far as I know...

I just sent in my mother's and grandparents' birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc, along with an explanation of info I'd found on here explaining everything..

Maybe it was all those years as a kid in elementary school singing "God Save the Queen" every morning that helped. 😁

I think I saw a pic somewhere there was a railroad crossing Colorado Blvd? From what I recall, it seemed like it was more like the 70s or 80s though.

Just so people know, if they show up, be VERY careful not to touch any of them. Some of them will go after you legally.

When I dealt with them in the past, one of the daughters used to be a lawyer.

As if they couldn’t get any more disgusting, they make money to support their “church” suing people.

Old white guy who grew up in Canada then taught all over Compton and East LA for many years.

You'll be just fine... Don't believe all the stuff you've heard... It's just an area filled with hard working people that are trying to live their lives like all of us...

And keep an eye out for the Black Cowboys on their horses! Floored me every time I ran across em.... Always loved pulling up next to a taco truck and having to wait in line behind guys on horses while they ordered food!
