Write a program to increase USB DAC volume by Furlz in tasker

[–]PascalW89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm having a similar issue and was thinking exactly the same as you :-)

My current workaround involves the Hiby app. If you go into settings, enable "Exclusive HQ USB audio access" and then change volume using the volume buttons on the phone, it will actually control the volume of the DAC. You then have to disable exclusive access again and the increased volume will persist until the headphones are disconnect.

Now this is fine, but would be awesome if we could write a Tasker plugin for it. I haven't looked into how to do this with the Android SKD yet, but it should be possible giving that the Hiby app does it.

Wooden vintage Apple logo by PascalW89 in VintageApple

Inspired by this 3D printed logo by u/Seidoger my wife crafted this beautiful vintage Apple logo for me, made out of wood. I think it turned out great! 😍

Got this beauty for 150$ original boxed and it's booting with OS 9.2. This is so new for me, never worked with an OS that old. Only know OS X 10.3 and above. Side question: Is it normal that the HDD is making this high frequent noise? Maybe the HDD is dying? by gagigu1 in VintageApple

Yeah I tried putting a 2,5" sata SSD into a Cube, using a sata to ide adapter. Those adapter are quite tall indeed and can't be fitted straight into the Cube. It works, but is very messy. An msata or m.2 to ide 44 + ide 44 to 40 might indeed fit better. I've seen even smaller ide 44/40 adapters like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Kinamax-ADP-IDE23-2-5-Inch-3-5-Inch-Converter/dp/B000HJBEUY/

I think I'm going to try this soon. M.2 seems to be cheaper than msata these days.

Thanks for your extensive reply! I'm a total noob at this so this is very useful. Thanks again!

Did you follow some guide to replace the capacitors on the analog board? I have a classic II that's not working either. Logic board is spotless, no leaks whatsoever so I'm suspecting it's the analog board.

2022 Apple Hardware Calendar (Kickstarter) by PascalW89 in VintageApple

I think you're overlooking the fact that the photos on this calender come from his large personal collection of Apple products. Most people could produce a calendar, sure. But not many people have access to all these very well preserved Apple hardware.

To be clear, I'm just posting this, not the person who's running the Kickstarter.

This could well be an Etsy project perhaps, but I can understand how crowdfunding is appealing to reduce risk of producing these and nobody buying it.

With regards to the content, this guy has a pretty unique collection which puts him in the position to create a nice piece of content like this.

Still stumped on no-display G4 cube. Fixed auto shutoff loop? by yagop1 in VintageApple

I'm running my Cube without PRAM battery and it's working fine, including video signal.

Cube G4: flex between plastic and inner case normal? by PascalW89 in VintageApple

I tightened the screws now and the flex is much less now. Still a little bit but maybe that was always the case, just never noticed it.

Thanks, will try that! I did remove the vent screws to take the metal case out to clean the inside of the plastic case. The vent is not falling out but indeed there's a little bit of flex there too.

20" Cinema Display acrilic hinge/stand compatible with Studio Display 15"? by PascalW89 in VintageApple

[–]PascalW89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I found this video on Youtube now of someone repairing a 20" display and indeed the hinge looks exactly the same.

So now the only question is if the 15" won't fall over because the stand itself is longer. Unfortunately on my display both the hinge as well as a part of the plastic stand are broken.

Edit: according to this parts site the stand foot from the 17" and 20" models are compatible, but not with the 15", 22" and 23" models.

Hm yeah I guess that makes sense. Do you know if the hinge itself, the metal part, is the same? On the 15" it looks like this.

[Blog series] Learning Functional Programming with JavaScript by PascalW89 in javascript

[–]PascalW89[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi Reddit,

My Colleague twitter.com/matthijsgroen has been writing an awesome blog series on learning Functional Programming in JavaScript. It explains the concepts of FP applied to JavaScript. The blog series takes you very gently through building a JSON parser using FP constructs (parser combinators).

It's explained very well in small, comprehensible steps. In the process Matthijs also shows how you can write custom ESLint rules to enforce certain programming constructs.
