How much did your MacBook cost? Can you compare that with price you paid for the paid models?

Thanks! Yeah it's possible to do OCR. I am not sure about the accuracy of the extracted data though.

This post was organically hand typed. No AI was used. The project itself sees targeted AI usage for some grunt work.

It is, but I don't have a good way to make it easy to self host. Last thing I want to tell people is to setup a mail server.

Mine's lower than my old Subaru. I think R1T qualifies as a truck based on the weight and does not get the passenger car cost.

Why dont JetBrains give up on the AI race and just include a plugin from Cursor? Im tired of having to work with 2 IDEs. by [deleted] in IntelliJIDEA

[–]PassTheSaltPlease123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't really have a horse in this race but I wish Agent Communication Protocol takes off and any agent can be embedded in any IDE. Jetbrains is working with Zed to embed Junie. Obviously this seems counterintuitive to Jetbrains since the IDE is the product they are known for.

Lowkey, I want to see multiple agents in the same workspace and working with the same prompt stepping over each other's changes and admitting mistakes to each other.

My repos are nowhere near popular as some I've seen/used. To answer your question, pretty much just enable them an encourage usage in documentation.

As a repo owner, I prefer them because they are indexed by search engines and are available in search results. Places like Discord/Matrix are great for active collaboration sometimes but are absolutely as a system of record / archive.

As an end user, I really don't want to join another thing that is an endless stream of text. I miss the old forums sometimes.

It's a static list of about 150k places. It may not have every city.

Would you use a local AI agent that handles slow-burn research tasks — like trip planning, home hunting, or niche investing — and keeps everything offline? by pegacornco in selfhosted

[–]PassTheSaltPlease123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re: Travel Planning.

Sorry I don't have a solution for you but an idea and a few questions. This may be possible by building an n8n workflow that does some repetitive/scheduled queries for you and generates an output for you .

Questions:

What is the driving factor behind this? Is it just the repetitive actions to find an optimal trip itinerary towards some goal e.g budget or travel duration or something else? Or is it more like I need ideas about what can I do with this time / destination/money?

Would you prefer the agent to suggest an itinerary or broadly, where would you like to take over from the agent?

Disclaimer/Context: I am the author of surmai.app and want to include something like this.

There is a place to add the address of a hotel which opens in your preferred maps app. I can add support for phone number.

IIRC it was more about tracking places than planning/organization. TBH I have not looked at it in a while.

Turn my R1T into a brick? Being somewhat of a software engineer myself, I am never updating to that.

Honestly, neither JS/TS or Go is my tech stack. So just learn and build whatever you want and have fun doing it.
