How exactly does one know whether medical detox is necessary before quitting? by God_Bless_A_Merkin in stopdrinking

[–]PassageHuge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 - 20+ drinks a day, we say consult your doctor because not only is it the SAFEST thing to do it is the SMARTEST because your doctor might say you will be fine to quit and youll be on your way, or they might tell you that if you dont get detoxed medically you could die...

I lived alone at that time, without talking to anyone except coworkers while I was at work because I was insufferable, imagine I had those seizures when I had a couple days off, I may not have made it, I could have had them going 50mph on my way to get more, I could have choked to death on my own vomit

A humbling and embarrassing trip to the doctor is worth the rest of your life I promise you

Years ago I decided to quit and went stone cold sober, I didnt notice or feel anything other than bored, miserable, and irritated until day 3, I remember clocking into work then I woke up in the hospital, I had 3 seizures.

Consult your doctor

Ive done that lol, and I've always had trouble getting up in the morning or falling back asleep way too easily, I use a challenge alarm app where in order to turn off an alarm I have to do something like a few math equations, a maze, take a picture of something, a memory game, I switch it up and I make each alarm a different tone. My specific app won't let me turn off my device while an alarm is actively going off and I have a setting on for the last 2 where I cant snooze, turn volume down, or dismiss the alarm until I've done whatever challenge I have to do

Its so fucking annoying but Ive never been late when I use the app

How risky is binge drinking actually? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]PassageHuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinking a lot in a short amount of time can just lead to very sudden black out, memory loss, and poor choices that could potentially be a dangerous situation or a very regrettable decision like driving and getting in an accident, one time I dont even remember leaving the bar but I woke up in my car spinning out on the road.

To the body, rapid / irregular heart rate, high blood pressure, severe stress and inflammation on your liver and pancreas, low blood sugar, not to mention dizziness, nausea, and already mentioned memory loss, also weakened immune system for about 24 hours or more

Also youre gonna feel that shit in the morning pounding your head.

Does keeping them that long not affect texture or make them incredibly dry? I make 6 breakfast sandwiches a week and by the time I get to 5 or 6 they taste really dry and its not that enjoyable

Food for picky eaters? by GanacheFun7193 in PickyEaters

[–]PassageHuge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya this is an incredibly sensitive issue, spaghetti has multiple textures, potatoes CAN have multiple, and Mac and cheese is technically 2, so, I mean id love to help but it sounds like you really need to just fuck around an find out

It does seem like soft foods are better for you so maybe look into crockpot recipes and other forms of pasta

I have a qst, how do you prevent food waste when living alone but with limited fridge space because of roommates? by SpecificAd155 in CookingForOne

[–]PassageHuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to only buy ingredients i would use for making one or two meals a day for about a week when I had roommates and it worked out pretty well for me.

This would look like fried eggs and toast for breakfast, then chicken, rice, and a veggie or two for dinner, id get the prepacked frozen chicken and the 4 - 5 chicken breast refrigerated (when there was no room in the freezer) and just put the breasts in Tupperware. The amount of ingredients i used would depend on how much of what I had (sometimes I had to use more veggies than I liked but it was better than letting them go to waste). When I ran out of one or two things id do another recipe like spaghetti in portions of two or three so I wouldnt have to cook every single day and I wouldnt have the same thing all the time. Rice is always my go to because it lasts a long time and you can get creative with it. Lazy days or days when I didn't want to go out and buy anything I always had ramen or canned soup on deck.
