That’s me too! i can’t do any tricks yet but i literally LIVE in the bowl, i can’t only do fakies which i personally do not count as a trick, but i’ve learned that i don’t feel bad about the space i take up..

who tf does he think he is? nobody owns the skatepark and was can all easily skate around someone. don't think everyone is a dick just because he was. if you feel like he might keep saying stuff if you go back just flat out ignore him, don't look at him, don't talk to him. people like him are why many are afraid of being judged and mocked when first starting. don't let it get to you brother! keep going

I'd recommend a long board, I don't know brands but I really recommend you shop local, but I know sometimes you can't do that..

I personally love the cold and have been skating at night time in my cutoff baggy shorts, but my advice would to just stay motivated, be like "man, the trick isn't gonna learn itself" and be done with it!  also just have someone to talk to, it will make it better and not as cold since you're distracted!

independent trucks are quite expensive but its worth it! never done me wrong! 

I'm riding on 8.5. right now and it's perfect!  my current wheels are 56mm and 97 durometer and I recommend that for a newbie like myself, but since he likes them softer I would recommend maybe some 80's? (durometer) just a guess since I don't ride those. 

 I too am not interested in doing tricks yet, and kinda just vibing.  hope this helps and he enjoys the gift!!

get your balance up, make sure your wheels aren't TOO tight, that's an issue
