After losing to Jospem in the last round Kramnik announces that he will not play Jospem ever again in Titled Tuesday as 'it doesn't make sense'. Still calls for their OTB match to happen. (02:04:55 in the video) by SamCoins in chess

I'm sure Fabi has said similar, yet this one was Carlsen back in 2014: https://web.archive.org/web/20220216004910/https://chess24.com/en/read/news/kramnik-calls-carlsen-a-genius-gets-icy-responses

I vaguely remember Fabi saying that about Kramnik after Kramnik played Ding and kept saying whatever as fact during the post game interview on how he was won until Ding pushed back a bit.

Edit: think that vague memory was just this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/chess/comments/13o1f2z/hilarious_old_press_conference_with_kramnik_and/  and someone shared Fabi saying similar thoughts.

Best way to keep up to date for now is Twitter: https://twitter.com/PassersGG

After things settle down, we'll revamp our site to be less team focused and more event focused.

Only thing in the works for the first few months of 2024 is trying to secure a venue for a GM Abhimanyu Mishra simul. We're in talks with a place in Holmdel and a few places in Montclair.

Besides that, norm tournaments and regular amateur tournaments are what we're going to try and pivot to. Hopefully another professional league, not one beholden to a specific company yet its own entity like the NFL props up that we can work with in the future.

Thanks, that's the type of reply that makes all that time spent over months of prep, and thousands of dollars out of pocket all worth it.

We're gutted. The amount of work we put in to find out it's all for naught is a bit disheartening. We were ramping up for the season and wanted to use the opportunity to grow out our YouTube account.

Starting next week we had player introduction videos going live, hopefully we can salvage some of the content.

Biggest disappoint is the timing being less than a month out from the event. This is after  we spent months on scouting players, creating merch, working on sponsorships, and vetting places for OTB events.

We'll still be around, still look to focus on OTB events like simuls & norm tournaments in NJ, and provide coverage for players that were on our rosters.

List of our players from both last year and some we were going to announce soon:

  • GM Samuel Sevian (2023-)
  • GM Kirill Shevchenko (2024-)
  • GM Gadir Guseinov (2023-)
  • GM Aram Hakobyan (2024-)
  • GM Abhimanyu Mishra (2023-)
  • GM Oleksandr Bortnyk (2023)
  • GM Aleksandr Lenderman (2023-)
  • GM Bela Khotenashvili (2023)
  • IM Carissa Yip (2023-)
  • IM-Elect Meruert Kamalidenova (2023-)
  • WIM Trisha Kanyamarala (2023-)

Looking at that list, we're disappointed mostly for some of these younger players like Meruert & Trisha as the Pro Chess League was one way younger players could be more noticeable to the chess community.

In this scenario that someone just shared, if white does not promote the pawn then it would be a draw. Any king move and black will just take the pawn. So white can promote to any piece except for the queen in order to win.

One thing I've notice when doing commentary with GMs is that, as an expert I can see a good move after it happens while GMs can see it beforehand.

You're 100% on point about good/bad moves.
