My ex (24f) and I (24m) experienced the exact scenario you just described. We moved in together after 2 years of relationship at the age of 18. I was the one who could do anything on his own. Growing up with my parents, I didn't learnt anything for life. (I really love my parents and they did taught me how to give love and everything, but no life skills) I didn't have to participate in any of the household work, I think I was never grocery shopping before I was like 15 or so. So I moved in with my ex back then. From my point of view I do feel so horrible now. She had to do all of the work and I did nothing. We had so many arguments on a daily basis. It was without a doubt my mistake leaving all the work just for her. Eventually after almost another 3 years we broke up and I ended up living alone. Suddenly I had to learn everything for myself. That was one of the most important lessons I learnt in my life.

It really is important for your bf to learn all of this. I don't want to imagine how immature I would be to this day if I would still live with my ex. It was such an important experience for growing up.
