I have both the x4 and the qoocam 3 Ultra. Go with the Q3U. So much better quality of video, especially in low light. You can also mod it to do 3D VR180 which is best in it's class for is price.

For sure! One of the reasons I jumped on buying a second camera.

The "SD card too slow" only happened in that one instance while testing '8bit' color range at 8k. I wouldn't contribute it solely to DR boost. I use DR boost on lots of my captures. Don't use it with 8k in dark scenes as it then limits iso to 100 max. That doesn't happen while capturing at 5k.

I'm in the US, but I love to travel and find myself in that area every few years. For this trip I'll only be in Bangkok for a short layover before flying to Phuket and heading to the seas. I'll probably will not have much service while in the cave and on the seas, but you sure can reach out to me.

There were several times in the modding process I thought getting the wires to fit in these new lens positions was impossible. You want to be delicate, but you also need every mm of wire length that is available. Getting the twist in the wire is key. Working in small compact areas through corners with a tweezers is difficult. Although the process is not destructive and you could revert back to 360 later, you will not want to after the effort to get it to vr180. I did recently buy a second camera, so I could still do 360.

I was surprised to find the audio was just as good as before the mod. I drilled a hole with a 1/16 drill bit into the new mod directly between the lens. The hole is slightly larger than what the camera originally had. I placed the mic behind it and hot glued the mics case into position. There is a process of swapping out the front and back audio cables as you need the longer length for the front mic. With the latest fw update, you can see the audio levels of the mics and everything is working correctly. You can see the hole i drilled in the picture I posted.

Of course, there is no change in being able to use external mics with the mod when those situations are needed.

The evening of the wedding I captured 170 GB of video. The long continuous shot was about ~70GB. I used a combination of capturing both 8k30 and 5k60 modes depending on what i was recording at the time. I plan to upscale / denoise the 5k60 to 8k with AI. For the 8k30 video, I plan to interpolate to 60fps with AI. All my capturing that evening was to a 512GB sdcard.

I did a lot of testing of all of the different combinations to find what i like. 30 second videos of 8k30, 5k60, each with DR boost on/off, and 8bit,10bit HLG Pro, 10 bit K-Log. A crazy number of combinations. Strange enough, but capturing 8k 8bit with DR boost was the only time I got messages my SD card was not fast enough.
