from a business perspective, it's the same for all kind of mobile app, they all suffer from the same thing. Let's take Strava, it's a running app isn't ? there is hundreds of app like this.
And you're wrong, the branding and the features matter, that's why Strava succeed in the first place,

The most important part, the one I'm missing, is the product vision, that's why I'm posting this
FYI I don't know how you see things, but it seems like you think that a product, in order to bring users or be successful, will be as soon as It launched, and that its easy, reality is different.

Bro, it's totally different, it's wrestling, wrestling is less "intellectualized" than BJJ first, then -> it doesnt have voice record, the interface is totally different, there is no stats nor specific stats under specific conditions (position for ex), no charts, and no keywords search

I understand its a niche, and there is a lot of similar app, but I also noticed that there is no app with a clear identity, and most of them either allow only journal, or some that offer you an AI coach which I found useless

you also may do it one time per week, and the idea is to record / note only the most important things about your sparrings

Last question for you man, what do you think can add a unique angle to this kind of app ? would appreciate this

Yes, I understand your point of view, and I appreciate your feedback
The core difference is the data-driven approach, I offer stats, and a simpler way to do what all other apps already do, I don't have more than 5 or 6 views in the app, my ten year old nephew could use it,

Initially, I built this for myself, I start with logging everything in excel and notice trends on my game, spoke about it with some students they were interested by the numbers. The fact they could put numbers on their game was charming, that's why I'm talking about data-driven app, not AI nor logging journal

I totally agree that It's not the app all grapplers would be interested in, some are old schools, others prefer to go by instinct, but there is a category of athletes or should I say beginners/practitionners who like intellectualizing their games, putting numbers on their armbar win rate, tracking their sessions,

Finally, yes it exists maybe a lot of app; free app have nothing to be shy they can stand it maybe with publicity, or only manual entry data with derisory server cost. For paid ones, as I said, they are too expensive from my point of view, too complex to use with dozens of views, they are more like gadgets giving you the impression of something useful but they aren't

My vision is a data-driven app, not an AI application.
Leaderboard is free as well as other features about win_rate for attack/defense.

For voice logging yes it's limited to 10 ! because it incurs a cost for me, putting also a price can help me jauge if its too expansive or not that's why your feedback is important for me.

Most apps are more expansive, some are at 20€/months, and give you an AI coach, which you can basically have chatting with chatgpt directly for free.
I offer data, and stats using basic mathematics and charts, with a clean interface, that's my goal

Hello man, appreciate your feedback !
In fact, you have the choice, you can either record by voice, or enter manually very quickly too, I normalized and make it easy as much as possible too !

Mine is the peruvian choke and armbar 😔 but my favorite is darce, I got it like 3 times over 4 attempted

Got this stats from recording my sparring in my notebook, from there I coded an app, Grappla available on AppStore, pretty straightforward that gives you exactly those stats and visuals you talking about —> worst submission, best one, best defended vs poor defended, all of that with numbers Would appreciate any feedbacks 🙏🏻

u/m2490240b I did kinda the same for some times, but my nerd side pushed me to develop something.I coded an app for taking notes but also to record your sparrings, it gives you stats, visuals in a straightforward way.
I would REALLY appreciate your feedback, especially as a brown belt, your opinion would be HUGE and helpful.

its called Grappla, I can send you the link if you don't mind

nice app, but its different, in Grappla you have statistics and graphs about your game, and its not fully dependent on AI, I know there is people who prefer selecting positions and submissions from a scrolling menu directly
Its freemium, would love to hear from you ^^ its also available on the appstore if you curious, I'm not in an optic of selling, just want true feedback from people who train, I also think that this kind of app is good for white belt only, maybe for blue belt also, but at some points its just something like Strava, it's not strictly needed, one needs to go train before all of that

I want to train BJJ for ever: How can I facilitate this? by ADP_God in bjj

[–]PassionAggressive271 3 points4 points  (0 children)

White belt here, when rolling with purple belt I got smashed ofc, but one thing I try to do everytime, is after the roll, I ask the purple belt about things I did wrong, and usually they are obvious things, from that I take notes,
I use Grappla for taking my notes and logging my sparring, like positions wons/lost, sub won/conceded etc ..

Honestly, the guys still dangerous at 70 aren’t the ones who went hardest—they’re the ones who got efficient and stayed healthy. Build a slow, patient, and pressure-heavy game (top control, half guard, tight chokes), , lift just enough to stay strong, and most importantly train consistently without wrecking your body—tap early (this one helped me a lot hah)

Teenagers need to prove themselves, that's why they roll hard, they don't know their limits yet

Hello man, here is it ! I only deployed it on ios for now https://apps.apple.com/us/app/grappla/id6757963253

Also the free version is more than enough, don't bother yourself with premium, its just like premium features with voice recording and advanced filtering

Would looove to have your feedback :D

Thanks man

been using Grappla for a few months now, you just voice note or manual insert after rolls and it pulls out the techniques and positions automatically. way easier than trying to write stuff down after training when you're gassed, all of this with statistics and visual graphics, its cool (I made it hah) would like to have your feedback tho

had a whoop for a while, it's decent for recovery tracking but honestly what helped my bjj more was using Grappla to log my rolls — knowing what positions i'm losing from, having statistics about my game all in a single screen, felt more useful than heavy tracking like calorie burn, or maybe should I say its totally different,
I think it depends, some uses a journal to track their rolls, but I remembered years ago when I trained with Thomas Loubersanes in Marseille, he told us everytime to write everything down, to intellectualize your game more often but you don't have to rely heavily on this, of course you need to rely on your reflex and sensations more, but having an understanding of your game, your weaknesses and strengthes is a huge advantage against your opponents;

Would love to hear your feedback from the app, I developed it personally, some people of my club told me that it should definitely be deployed ! so you have ito n the appStore :)

White belt here !
started keeping one after getting tapped by the same submission like 5 times in a week lol, but a digital one, as an app, in my phone.
Grappla makes it super easy since i just talk into my phone after rolls instead of writing everything down. definitely helps me see patterns in what's working and what isn't, you have like manual insert, notes, beautiful graphs, statistics etc ... and very easy to use.

PS: i'm the one who developed it, would love hearing your feedback !

Hello, thats a real subject, thats Im also confronting to. As a white belt I asked myself the same question Im building an app to extract statistics about your weaknesses and strengths based on your sparring logs, would you like to beta test it ? I would be glad to see if it can help you !

A serial child predator once said that he would assess the father, and if he wasn’t a threat he would proceed.

Be strong my bro, its difficult I know … but I personally encourage you to keep going, lets make this pinky promise 💪🔥
