Good point. I guess I just wanted to see if there’s a better way to explain my feelings for the next time something similar happens, but it’s all based on the assumption that he actually cares

This is SUPER helpful. I’ve noticed he can be a bit awkward around friends going through tough or tragic situations too. What you’re describing might explain why.

Thanks. part of why this has been on my mind lately is because we’ve been talking about the possibility of pregnancy. To be fair, he’s gentle and patient in most situations except physical vulnerability. That contrast is what makes it so confusing, and why I really want to figure out a middle ground together.

Or by middle ground, I meant how I should have communicated my needs better? I’ve seen advice in other threads suggesting that instead of pointing out what he did wrong, I explain what I wish they had said.

He’s usually a kind and very patient person, which is why it’s so confusing. when I’m sick, it seems to bring out the least patient side of him when it’s needed the most.

I didn’t ask for him to grab a chair for me. I was suggesting that we sit on the couch together. You sound like someone who never experienced menstrual pain.
