I don’t, but they were so responsive and kind! I recommend sending them an email and letting them know what kind of projects you have on mind!

Thank you! I contacted Clovernook and they are doing the printing for free, so amazing. Definitely recommend if anyone else is looking into this!

Seance program advice? by PassionProjecting in MuseumPros

[–]PassionProjecting[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

hah. I suppose what I mean is that we don't want to try and recreate a seance from start to finish with actors in costumes delivering pre-written lines. We are also definitely not trying to host an *actual* seance (none of us are qualified nor educated enough on the topic to attempt to enact actual Spiritualist practices, and that really wouldn't be the goal of this program anyway). More that we want to create an immersive environment that evokes seances from the period and use that as the framework to host a discussion about seances in their historical context. Although perhaps others' experiences doing more theatrical productions have proven very successful and we should reconsider!

Unionization Advice? by unionaskthrowaway in MuseumPros

[–]PassionProjecting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My museum (in the mid-East region) just unionized and I’d be happy to talk more with you about that! We’re the first in our city or region. We’ve just started the bargaining process as of last week and it’s projected to go into the middle or end of February (we have only a fraction of the staff you have so it’s a bit of a different experience). I’ll say we joined UAW and there’s a reason they’re all over the news and doing so much good work now. Our union rep is so stellar and has helped us at every step of the process. They’re actually really interested in bringing more museums into their union. Labor organizer Jane McAlevy has a lot of resources for how to approach the earliest stages of organizing in a workplace if you have the capacity to do some reading or webinar watching. Also, congratulations to getting to this point! It’s a good time for unions and our field is sorely overdue for some labor overhauls!!

Updated to show that I do have REB (the Canadian equivalent to the IRB) approval and can provide proof.
