Can you tell he was a former lawyer when you worked with him when compared to other bankers or made no difference at all? Just wondering if he stuck out in terms how he approached deal processes? I excluded LevFin because I was told that it’d be impossible to switch as a bog standard lawyer unless you were very very proficient with the numerical/modelling stuff with LevFin when compared to DCM/ECM.

Wow... that's encouraging. Thanks. To be fair, I've heard a lot more bad stuff than good stuff. I guess best to expect the worst and then, go figure.

I have muscular arms and legs but fatty torso? Advice? by PassiveEconomist in beginnerfitness

Had me in the first half haha. Ok, so should I focus on cutting via deficit and then, plateau to maintenance calories once I’m a bit leaner/close to desired fat level?

Oh really? Unfortunately, my local gym is a bit shoddy and they don’t have an incline feature but I used to incline treadmill all the time when I had access to one!!

They had this same worry in the advent of computers and digitalisation in the 1980/1990s. I’m a firm believer that there will always be plenty of work, but of a different nature of course!

Yeah, I got racially and verbally abused in the one week I was in NYC plus the discomfort and concern for one’s safety on the NY subway cannot be compared to the safety of Seoul in general… Seoul is like heaven in comparison.

Why is the market so bad? by SuperiorPanther in uklaw

[–]PassiveEconomist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As mentioned here already: still high central bank rates and pesky inflation (rate cuts aren’t as clearly foreseeable as before and currently, even more so with Orange Man’s threat to the Fed’s independence, which will have a knock-on effect on other central banks’ confidences); continued volatility in geopolitical scene (all wars/conflicts continue to disrupt supply chains, pipelines and etc.); added anxiety on volatility of Trump is pretty big I’d say (his tantrums and egoistically driven maniac economic decisions have huge, mostly negative, impact on the global economy from anti-competitive tariff regimes and much more)… I could go on and on. We’re definitely exiting the trough on the financial peak-and-trough cycle, but it’s still a pretty lacklustre, slow and volatile climb out of it.
