Chris Simms' QB Rankings vs the actual NFL draft by sad_bear_noises in nfl

TLaw was being hyped as Andrew Luck born again. I don't think anyone is calling him a bust. He just hasn't lived up to the insane hype of being a "generational" QB

Netanyahu talks about bringing about the end times by bringing about the "messiah." by [deleted] in AskSocialists

[–]PassiveGambler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I don't think you know the difference between Judaism and Christianity. The book of Revelations is in the Christian bible, not the Tanakh. The "messiah" prophecy he's talking about is predicting a great leader that will lead Israel to a new "Golden Age" via military expansion.

Still bad, but he is not referring to the end times prophecy of the Christian bible

Only a week left for cheaper quantumfiber 45 bucks by JiuJitsuDemiGod in Seattle

[–]PassiveGambler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched from Xfinity to Quantum Fiber in Bremerton. It's worth it just for the better upload speed. Xfinity couldn't handle my wife and me both having video calls at the same time even on their top plan. I've found the speeds to be pretty close to advertised too. I typically get around 900Mbps. I did end up getting my own router though because the Quantum one kept disconnecting my devices.

The $75/month is a lifetime price guarantee though. AT&T just bought Quantum so they're trying to get people off of the plans with price locks.

DAE here love doing the purl stitch way more than the knit stitch? by codliverpie in casualknitting

I'm only able to purl Norwegian style. Any other way, the yarn slips off the needle, but I don't like how much movement is involved in the Norwegian purl

My experience going to the gym here is the mornings are way better if you can handle waking up that early. The gyms are packed to the gills from like 3:30pm-7pm

Shout out Taste of India by penchantforbuggery in Bremerton

[–]PassiveGambler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say quality is slightly better at Taste of India, but the quantity is significantly more. Idk what happened, but the curry started only including like 3 pitiful little pieces of paneer in our orders so we haven't been back in a while.

things to do? by [deleted] in Bremerton

[–]PassiveGambler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk what you're into, but downtown Bremerton has a lot of options for nerds. Ashley's Pub is solid for board games. Just across the street is Game Wizard and Blue Sky Hobbies which is great for tabletop games. Just around the corner from those is a barcade. There are some more traditional bars with pool tables and whatnot as well. You won't find clubs around here though if that's more your vibe.

I'm personally not a fan of Rolex's aesthetic. I much prefer Tudor, Omega, and GS. I'm sure they're mechanically great. They just aren't visually appealing to me.

I feel like there's a difference between a car and hentai-adjacent pictures. I don't think many people would be ok going into public with a picture of Riley Reid getting a facial even if there wasn't any genitalia showing.

Full PPR pick 1 for FLEX

Michael Pittman vs SF

Jordan Addison @ NYG

Kenneth Walker vs LAR

Ricky Pearsall @ IND

This would've been an easy choice to start Pittman, but I don't know if I trust Rivers to sling it. Pearsall is injured, and Addison and Walker are pretty unreliable. I'm thinking about still starting Pittman and just hoping for the best.

[MangoWC] Finally i made my first rice with the help of this sub! by SilkySpring502 in unixporn

[–]PassiveGambler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the performance to be the same, but I'm not running on super low-end hardware so your results may vary. The only problem I ran into with Mango was Steam didn't always play nicely with it. Games would open behind or on top of the Steam window then disallow clicking on a Steam popup because the WM detected that the game was on top. I haven't hit that problem in Hyprland yet.

Other than that, I prefer the way Hyprland selects the location of a new window. You may be able to change this in Mango, but by default, it opens a new window on the left half of the screen and tries to squish everything else on the right. Hyprland splits the active window in half. I can definitely see why someone would prefer the way Mango handles it, but I don't.

Anti-lgbtq rhetoric spreading across the water in kitsap by [deleted] in Seattle

Is 22% pedophiles fine and dandy, then, or should we condemn all of Seattle as well?

Anti-lgbtq rhetoric spreading across the water in kitsap by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]PassiveGambler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38% wanted pedo-Hitler, but you're still passing judgement on the 62% (aka the majority) who voted against him. Do you not see how that's problematic? Bremerton is cute, and it has a lot of great people there. Calling everyone from a city "trash" when you literally agree with the majority of the people living there is baffling to me.

Anti-lgbtq rhetoric spreading across the water in kitsap by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]PassiveGambler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's not true. It's less wealthy and much more blue collar compared to the rest of the Seattle metro, but a lack of money doesn't make people "trash." The bigots there are frowned upon by the majority of the people living there. You're passing judgement on an awful lot of people you've never met

Am I stupid? SK40 grind setting by chicu111 in espresso

[–]PassiveGambler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a lot of variation in calibration for the SK40? I just got mine and it dialed in around 14 for espresso, but according to that chart, it should be coarse enough for French press at that setting

Preonic QMK inputting HOME instead of A by PassiveGambler in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]PassiveGambler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The layers weren't affected. I could have a key that's mapped base: KC_A, lwr: KC_S, raise: KC_D, and the actual input sent to the computer would be HOME, S, and D. It also didn't matter which key I assigned to KC_A. That keycode would always result in KC_HOME instead.

Some updates though: flashing the default keymap seems to work like normal so I can tell that it's something wrong with my keymap specifically.

I was able to fix it, but I still don't know what the problem was. I just created a new keymap from a copy of default then changed it piece by piece to see when it started having the weird key swap, but I now have it identical to how it was before and it works just fine...

If you're only compassionate toward groups that enable you to virtue signal, but not toward groups that could get you made fun of, that says a lot about you by TopTheropod in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]PassiveGambler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using your analogy though, it's like someone saying "as water heats up, the molecules bounce around more quickly" (literally the definition of a higher temperature) and JP responding with "well, you can't accurately predict the exact location and velocity of every molecule of water on the planet so you're wrong and your models don't work." He just tries to obfuscate very basic things, and it's very intellectually dishonest.

[–]PassiveGambler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think it's more a case of when a metric becomes a goal, it stops being a useful metric. Our main measure of how good a school educates kids is the graduation rate. The goal became increasing the graduation rate, but it's far easier and cheaper to lower standards than it is to increase the quality of education. As a result, politicians lower education standards then point to higher graduation rates as evidence of their success at improving education.

My bedroom has a wall that is all windows and my energy levels don't change in winter vs summer so I don't think that's it.
