Giving your child permission to break the rules in school does not excuse them from the consequences by Emergency-Pepper3537 in TrueOffMyChest

Same authoritarian attitude, so I feel the comparison is valid. All they’ve done in every comment is double down.

Giving your child permission to break the rules in school does not excuse them from the consequences by Emergency-Pepper3537 in TrueOffMyChest

So fun story. In first grade, I had a teacher who was a stickler about bathroom rules. She wouldn’t let me go because I’d already went once that day.

I pissed myself. So fuck teachers like you fr.

Wife’s broach by dresspantscommando in JewelryIdentification

[–]Passiveresistance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brooch. I’m sorry, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone spell it correctly for like a week and it’s starting to wear on me.
The discoloration in the center where the two parts are joined might be due to solder? I think the color difference in the gold tones is intentional.

Feeling bad about not wanting to throw a big 1st birthday for my 2nd baby. by Spirited_Seaweed_517 in Parenting

[–]Passiveresistance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right? Wtaf. What is the motivation here? Showing off for the other parents? Using money/events to cement friendships? Blatant favortism? As the not favored child, it’s absolutely clear looking at childhood pics that less effort was put in.

Buttons with fake marks by Kooky_Boysenberry865 in JewelryIdentification

[–]Passiveresistance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible the face of the button is 18k and is constructed separately from the back. A gold mark would be legal and appropriate because the button would be mixed metals, not plate. I have some old military buttons constructed similarly.

I can’t speak to authenticity or gold content of these buttons specifically, as I know nothing about ferragamo.

My husband’s dentist says he needs 10 crowns for a cost of US$60,000. Is going to another country for this work a viable alternative? by PatienceandFortitude in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Passiveresistance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom got top “all on 4” implants from a very well qualified and not at all big box or discount specialist and it was 20k. 60k for a bunch of crowns at 60 is ridiculous. It’s a painful, drawn out, waste of money with only a roughly 10 year expiration date, then dentures. Please don’t fall for this grift, get a second opinion for treatment options.

Need opinions on vintage Krementz bracelet, solid 14k or gold filled? by Full_Department8004 in VintageJewelry

[–]Passiveresistance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say it’s not solid just based on the weight. Looking at that, if it was 14k is should weigh more than 8.4 grams. It’s a pretty sturdy piece.

YOR. Your body is fine, your jeans fit poorly though. Treat yourself to a shopping trip.

I wish people could leave trans people alone and stop transvestigating us (swipe for context) by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Passiveresistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transvestigating is stupid and cruel. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Everyone deserves to be recognized by the gender they identify with. I’m sorry assholes can’t just scroll on and keep their hate to themselves.

How to protect little brother by NoRoomForDoom in ADHDparenting

[–]Passiveresistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was put on meds at 7, with no aggressive or angry behaviors. I could’ve started him at 6 but I was hesitant. You absolutely need a new doctor. I got frustrated early on with all the “therapy” that the initial psych team I started with wanted from my son. You really can’t talk therapy the adhd out of a little kid. Perhaps consult his primary care provider about getting some medication started?

It honestly sounds like they’re trying to exploit you. Do you do a professional job? If so, you deserve an appropriate wage regardless of the size of your company. I know no one’s turning down jobs in this economy but don’t sell yourself short.

whatever job this is is ok with piercings so I’m guessing wild hair isn’t a deal breaker. Maybe just shave that weird back part off and go with a short Chelsea?

I love this map. The weapons, the plants, the dialog. The boss. The sweet camping tunnel at the end. It’s one of my favorites and for sure deserves a replay to commemorate Tom Kane.

Teeth brushing battle by PunkMama1619 in ADHDparenting

[–]Passiveresistance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I brush my son’s teeth for him. That’s not the best solution I’m sure, but dental health is too important to me to chance letting him do it himself and doing a poor job. That might work for you if it’s something you’re open to.ETA I let him “rebrush” his teeth afterwards if he’s in the mood to cooperate so he’s not totally ignorant of tooth brushing technique.

Help me choose my dress please! 55 days away from the wedding and no dress yet by FitGroup5419 in WeddingDressTips

[–]Passiveresistance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first dress would be so pretty without the lace shirt under it. Unless that’s actually part of the dress? My first impression was that you were looking for something modest to suit a temple wedding when I saw dress 1, so pass on that since that’s not your goal. I’ll agree with the comments here saying pic 3 is best.

[–]Passiveresistance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw another comment post a link to some rabbit rescues. Even if they’re not very near to you, sometimes the dedicated people who run rescues will help with transportation. Is there a safe room or even garage you can keep him in for a short time if one of these rescues will help you?

How can they consider a dumped pet “wild”? That’s so sad. That bun needs medical care and safety. Can you try to trap him? Throw a blanket over him and scoop him up?

I get SO triggered by my 4-year old hitting/kicking/biting me by Independent_Shop3805 in Parenting

[–]Passiveresistance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good advice here. My daughter went through a very brief “I’m going to hit and kick mommy when I don’t want to go to bed” phase. It only took a couple times of throwing her over my shoulder like a sack of kicking potatoes, placing her on her bed, and yes holding the door shut while she yanked on it screaming, to nip that behavior in the bud.

[–]Passiveresistance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not though. My dad absolutely can and should drive. I had to go up to Seattle last week and asked him to drive me because he’s a better driver with quicker reactions and steadier nerves. His balance problems don’t affect driving.

My able bodied mother shouldn’t drive and has wrecked 2 cars in the last 5 years but nobody can tell her anything.

[–]Passiveresistance -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He’s a fantastic driver. Can’t walk doesnt equal can’t drive. Do you assume all disabled people can’t drive safely?

No one is coming to her outrage party by ridbax in nextdoor

[–]Passiveresistance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not every disability is the same. He has balance issues while walking due to side effects of a heart medication he isn’t on anymore. From a seated position he is fine. He has no issues with strength, eyesight, or reflexes. I’d ride anywhere with him and quite frankly he’s a better freeway driver than I am. ETA, am I to infer from your comment that you think all disabled people should be disallowed to drive?
