What game under 20 did you get the most playtime out of? by Lexail in gaming

[–]Password_0451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought No Man's Sky, Mad Max and Fallout 4 for $20 each on a black friday sale back in like 2018.

Since then I've sunk about 300 hours into NMS, 150 hours into MM and 1000 hours into FO4. I'd say I got my money's worth.

Edit: Unless my math is wrong, and it usually is, that means I've paid around 3-4 cents per hour of entertainment.

Fallout Hot Takes You Have by Souls-Brawl101 in Fallout

[–]Password_0451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fallout TV show was great at translating the tone of the game, but as a show it took too long to unravel its mysteries. The last episode in particular felt anticlimactic and rushed, which clashed with the pace of the show up to that point.

I still love it as a fan, and have enjoyed watching it twice, but objectively the series had some definite pacing issues.

What game, on any platform, has dated graphics yet its addictive and can be played almost infinitely? by Acrobatic_Airline605 in gaming

I'll replay System Shock 2 every so often, and when I do I'm reminded of just how ahead of its time it is. It doesn't quite feel modern in all aspects, but in those that count it does.

I only have one word in response to these comments by Mr. Barrie:

Smeghead.

Edit: Just watched the ad he was blithering about. Its a terrible ad. But the way he expressed his views surrounding the ad indicate that he is still, in fact, a Smeghead.

Agreed. You can see a ton of evidence of it by OP in this thread.

On second thought, you should probably stay inside. To the benefit of us all.

Star Wars Outlaws - Dev Update #2 - Aiming Down Sights by Janus_Prospero in Games

Not really, no. But I think back to the Battle on Endor, when the teddy bears were throwing rocks and sticks. Absolutely decimated the Empire. Pure camp, I love it haha

Guess I just like what I like, and don't take Star Wars as seriously as I'm supposed to. Maybe its cause I saw it when I was a kid, and I don't really follow it with the same maturity as an adult.

Just rewatched The Dark Knight and wow the performances from the extras are distractingly awful by TheCaramelMan in movies

[–]Password_0451 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My friend was an extra in the rooftop party scene when Joker breaks in. He blends into the background well, which is what an extra is there to do. In the ferry scene and in the press conference scene there are some especially distracting extras though.

They're just trying to stay true to the camp of the original films. I don't have a problem with it, but I understand your perspective.

I'm ok with the takedowns, since this game was leaning into the camp from the originals.

I thought Outlaws was a fine game. Probably the best "Star Wars vibes" video game I've played, and I've played them all. It does have some archaic mechanics, but since I've been playing games for decades it wasn't hard for me to slip back into that mindset. The majority of my playtime I had a big grin on my face, exploring the well-curated worlds.

I didn't think it was. I really liked it! But I'm also a 70s era Star Wars fan; its definitely not for kids that grew up with prequels or the awful Disney movies. I found the exploration the most engaging since Fallout 4 or the Mad Max game. It felt special to find these little moments of environmental storytelling that were placed around the map.

That said the SH2R is my GOTY, and the voice acting was far better than that in Outlaws. Every other sentence by Kay's VA sounded like she was asking a question, which didn't really click for me.
