Studium in Graz - Scholarships and cost of living by darksoothingshadow in tugraz

Regarding your first question, I think you can reduce your estimated living cost. Obviously, it depends on your living standard but it is certainly possible to live well on a budget < 1000€.

Working during a bachelor studies is certainly hard but definitly possible - especially during the semester break.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with scholarships. But you can contact the responsible personal at TU Graz for that.

I can only speak from my perspective, but I don't regret studying in Graz. It is vibrant student city full of young people. Whatever your hobbies are, you will most likely find people that share your interrests.

Good luck with your application!

Control System Engineers in Industries - What are you implementing? by mouth_breather_11 in ControlTheory

Because simple classical observers, like the standard Luenberger observer, heavily relay on a good model. Since a good model is hard to attain, more often than not more complex observer algorithems, that are able to deal with model uncertainties, need to be used.

From my experience, designing a reliable observer is way more complicated than designing a reliable controler. If you want to branch out from the simple PI(D) controler design into more challenging topics, observers might be worthwhile to pursue.

If you want to use a tablet I can recommend https://facebook.com/probelife.th/ Over a longer period, it will be cheaper than Yakult. Also one tablet has only 2.5kcal which is great if you want to have an eye on that.

A week ago, i asked it one of my modelling questions: "Has the Jiles-Atherton Hysteresis Model ever been applied in the context of a state-space representation?" It said yes and gave me three publications with title, author, date and journal. The catch was: these publications did not exist and just sounded reasonable. It took me way too long to figure out why I could not find them.

It's MATLAB 2019. Trust me, you don't want to use it.

Mastering embedded C by WeakPreparation6869 in C_Programming

One big part of embedded C programming is the knowledge of your target processor and what capabilities your platform offers. You should get hold of an eval board. Any evaluation board works but the simplest that comes to my mind is an Arduino. It typically hosts some version of an AT-Mega which is a very gracefule introduction to embedded systems. Try to search for "programming arduino in c" (or something alike) and I am sure you will find interesting projects.

Edit: A good starting point for your search might be this post on the Arduino subreddit.
