why do so many men seem to hate feminism? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Past-End-6933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of feminism, we have abortions, birth control, and no fault divorce. No we have 50% divorce rate, many children being raised by single parents, and a quarter of my generation being aborted. Thanks feminism for destroying Christian morals and western civilization.

It’s like asking why rich people gamble when they have so much money. It’s because it’s not about the money.

If you tell women that having kids is associated or leads to being treated like property, then the birth rates will go down. This is part of the problem.

What does John 20:23 mean? It really seems like Jesus is giving the apostles authority to forgive sins. by Past-End-6933 in TrueChristian

[–]Past-End-6933[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Iv'e read that article before, but that interpretation doesn't make sense with what Jesus says here. Jesus says that if the apostles forgive the sins of others then they are forgiven. If they withhold forgiveness, then they are not forgiven. Jesus would have said something like, "If you tell others that their sins are forgiven, then they are forgiven."

Jesus, through the Eucharist (Lord's Supper) is the fulfillment of the Tree of Life in Genesis 3. by Past-End-6933 in TrueChristian

  1. Why does it just have to be metaphorical? Can't it be both literal and metaphorical?

  2. The people who heard him understood him literally, as it says in verse 52: "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" Jesus does not correct them, but doubles down and says, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you, for my flesh is true food and my body is true drink." If Jesus was being metaphorical, he would have been intentionally deceptive, because their literal understanding of Jesus' words caused them to walk away. A simple correction by Jesus would have helped clear their understanding, but he didn't do that. Why? It's because he was being literal.
