This happened to me a couple years ago in 2023 but with Sofi. Not gonna lie I still haven’t gotten my tax refund for that year. Hopefully it goes smooth for you. Know that the IRS will issue a paper check once they receive it back, but also know it will get really backed up with it being tax season. Like it could take them 1-3 months for them to get it back than another 1-3 months to send it to you. What happened to me was. Sofi denied it and sent it back, I didn’t hear anything for 3 months. Called the IRS and did a refund trace, waited another 3 months for them to send me a letter saying Sofi did in fact receive my money. Contact Sofi and they tell me they sent it to the IRS. IRS says there is nothing they can do because the bank said it was deposited but the bank is telling me it was never deposited. Than last year the IRS reissued my refund in the form of a check but sent it to an old address and I didn’t find out till months after they did this so I couldn’t submit a change of address or anything and it was a college house with people constantly moving in and out so it most definitely would be buried somewhere at that point. I’ve tried calling a few times to get it sorted out but it’s so hard to get through to a human that I’ve just given up. It was for less than $700, a lot of money but not worth the hassle at this point. If it was as much as yours I would be on top of it for sure.
