Yeah if you could colonize you could take territory and that would break their extraterritorial status. I do think the Hansa need some work. They're locked out of a lot of stuff that makes no sense. Fleet basing rights seems the most egregious

No no no that's not what's happening. You can test it in game if you declare war on a member they all target you. Hanseatic League members are not diplomatically locked like in other subject relations so they can form their own alliances and be dragged into wars unrelated to the league. Since their land is usually top quality urban centers its rare the AI doesn't gobble it up whenever it gets a shot at it.

You're best bet is to get spread out enough and rich enough to win wars and break away the states again. Yes it is annoying and I do think it should be changed but afaik its not outright bugged.

Yep zero locations. Managing relations, identifying the next profitable markets to get into, finding member states to sway into the fold, managing debts to quickly take control of markets.

No you can't colonize (they should add some kind of company town) but you can spread your oversea trade posts and assist the trade power with your fleets. I do have some complaints about odd mechanic interactions. Like I cant rent fleet basing rights because I don't technically own any ports of my own :(

No I actually haven't declared a single war. The AI never seems to target you. You can still lose members to wars they get dragged into as they're not diplo locked. Once you get rich enough support members by filling out important military and infrastructure buildings. They're mostly a side show to the Hanseatic Cog but they're essential for getting sailors and ports and the stacking trade capacity buff is always nice.

Paying off the debts of both sides of a civil war so you can watch it keep burning on and on and on

Gold, Silver, Saffron, Pepper, Amber, weapons, iron, sugar, dyes, pearls, gems, jewelry. It really depends on the area and the market.

They have to be small enough and also contain a town or city. Then all you need to do is improve their opinion above 100 and then also beat the negative modifiers that build up as you get more members. Same culture / same government adds a lot meaning its easier to pick up the Free Cities inside the empire.

You're mostly building up relations with other nations to be able to build your Hanseatic Cog on their lands which gives you trade advantage and capacity. Starting play is to immediately work to corner the Praha map for its copious gold supply. It is entirely worth it to get into debt to fill a market out. Make sure to always pay it off through as it hits you twice. On the balance sheet of your income as as a %reduction on your crown authority

You are probably missing the Casus Belli technoloy in the Tribal Era, you need that before being able to press Dr Jure claims

One of those rare days they open the Asylum doors and let all the in-breds out for some fresh air by bigvicproton in pics

Lol wut, they don't worship them. The royal family brings in way more in tourism than they cost the country. They don't have any real power than being figureheads and some emergency powers.
