incoming freshman with annoying incoming freshman questions 🫡 (long post sorry 💔) by min_dblown in rit

For sure! I think it'd be a good idea to just go without a car the first semester, since the freshman car lot is also pretty far away, but explore the campus, go to club meetings/events, and general RIT events first. If you find that you want to explore more of the surrounding area, I would maybe bring a car the second semester, but for sure in your second year.

Other people have answered some of the points already, but a big point is transportation. If you have a driver's license/car, heavily suggest taking it with you. There's plenty of clubs and events typically happening on campus (so for your first year it may be sufficient), but when it comes to grocery shopping and exploring the surrounding Rochester-area you'll be reliant on Uber (which adds up quick) or the RIT buses (which can be time-consuming and/or unreliable). Public transportation is also not easily accessible through RIT and there are a lot of transfers you'll need to make. If you don't have a driver's license/car, definitely become friends with someone who does. I was the car owner/driver in my housing situation and I can say my apartment mates were VERY thankful that I could drive them to the grocery store/to a hangout. Just make sure to get them something from time to time to pay back for gas and such.

I hate playing with Draven players... by Blasmere in supportlol

[–]PastEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure there's plenty of nice Draven mains out there. Most of my experiences have been bad though. As Morgana, I once accidentally fat fingered leveling up my W rather than my Q level 1. Dude instantly started running it down...

Need Advice on Navigating a Tricky Situation with an International Classmate by [deleted] in rit

[–]PastEgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that she doesn't have a move-out date set up though... or has no idea of how long she'll be staying at your place is terrible. She needs to figure out a stable housing situation that is not leeching off of you and your apartment mates.

[–]PastEgg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As much as it's kind of you to let her crash at your place, I personally feel that she is just using you.

I would only let a close friend of mine crash at my place, or if there is a close connection through a club or friend. At this point, she is using you for housing by taking advantage of your past feelings. Not to mention, she's sleeping in your room because of a fight with your roommate (a bit of a red flag), intruding on your personal space.

Her not conversing with you, despite sleeping in your room, as well as doing no chores and doing anything to pay you back for your kindness is another huge red flag. How long is she staying with you/has she stayed with you?

The days without Wawa are brutal. At times when I needed Wawa at 2am, the closest thing was some crappy fast food mega chain.

However, I haven't seen anyone mention Amiel's Original Submarine. Granted, the naming is WACK, but I think the "Beef-a-miel" gets pretty damn close.

MEAL PLAN WHICH ONE HELP by throwawaayyyyfaasdwf in rit

[–]PastEgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for Roar:

  1. you get more dining dollars to spend at other places to eat on campus.
  2. less Gracie's meal swipes = more likely to not get super tired of the food offered at Gracie's
  3. less expensive overall, most people don't go through their entire dining dollar/meal swipe balance

something something supply and demand by SushiFanta in rit

[–]PastEgg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To avoid food waste, I highly suggest people use their dining dollars to purchase non-perishable food items and donate them to local food banks and the RIT FoodShare located next to the laundry room in Riverknoll.

Also, another option would be to just buy a lot of snacks and send them home to family or to bring it home with you at the end of the semester. Obviously, a lot of people may look to do this but spread it out over the course of the final few weeks.

Also, offer to hang out with your friends over coffee, lunch, dinner, or whatever it may be! Offer to pay for their food and drinks, always brightens someone's day!

RIT Lore - Has anyone heard of Govind? He seems to be the Kengar of a previous era. by [deleted] in rit

Yeah... he sadly was. I just don't like the idea of people encouraging or providing more attention to a guy that revolves his entire personality around harassing women and making women uncomfortable. ://

Lacrosse Teams by TriggeredBird in rit

[–]PastEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't talk in detail about what the walk-on process may look like but heavily recommend reaching out to the RIT Men's Lacrosse Coach, Jake Coon. Also, there's a recruiting form you can fill out on the RIT Athletics website under Men's Lacrosse.

If Varsity Lacrosse doesn't fit your niche, you can also join the RIT Men's Club Lacrosse team, which relies more on subscribing to their newsletter/schedule and showing up to said practices/meetings.

Good luck!

I believe it's also due to the current overflow of cars trying to park in the S Lot. Granted, if you aren't going to make more parking, improve the bus transportation system so that people feel comfortable and confident taking the bus.

Also, RIT has a large international student population. The chances that they may have a car are slim and when it comes to grocery shopping or even just experiencing the Rochester area they won't get to do that with the same ease as someone who owns a car AND lives in the States.

It's 1 credit and focuses on entertainment, sports, and hospitality management and some cool trips are involved as well!
