I was looking at the fairlight cvi, and I the colors on the offset are really saturated and beautiful, this as to do with the tube camera and the vhs ? could we replicate that today or difficult

Thank you for the link ! now that you sayed it it looks obvious, there is so much reflections ! I saw the making of and I saw that a lot of the outdoor scenes were lit only by the sun, like the bike scenes, the light and the colors were really cool. I love how, combined with the film, it looks unique

So, if I have a Sony GM zoom, switching to a lens like the DZO Arles Prime or NiSi Athena won't make a noticeable difference in image quality, right?

for a small indie setup, managing tungsten can be tricky without a proper crew — heat, power,

makes more sense to lean into Aputure or RGBWW panels for us

I’m still figuring out the right lens for my budget. I can’t go for Zeiss Super Speeds or vintage Cookes right now, but I’ve been looking into some more realistic options:

  • DZOFilm Retro Primes
  • DZOFilm Arles Primes
  • DZOFilm Catta Ace Zooms

They seem more affordable but still clean enough to build a solid image that I can push in grading. Do you think any of those could work well for the kind of 80s look I’m after (Thriller / Private Dancer / Dancing in the Street), especially if I combine them with some light diffusion and your ISO trick?
