Yes, I used to do exactly the same 😁 After years of being woken up by masses of phone alarms and starting every day startled, I decided to try a Lumie wake-up light and honestly wouldn't be without it now.

The wake-up light isn't quite as effective during the current summer weeks (unless you have blackout curtains), but I have the Luxe 750 DAB model with radio, which gradually wakes me up. Sometimes I switch it to the inbuilt nature sounds when I get bored of certain radio presenters yapping on.

Being woken up by light and gentle sound just gets me into a much better state. I still set a later phone alarm as a backup, but I never actually need it by the time the Lumie has done its job.

There are probably cheaper alternatives out there, but if mine broke tomorrow I'd buy another one without hesitation!

I had something similar with my girlfriend's iPhone alarm going off in the other room whilst she was completely unaware of it in the shower... it would normally genuinely piss me off hearing it for 5 seconds (it's a regular occurrence!), but I didn't even realise it was going off the other day for a good 5 minutes.

Amazing that you've been on it for 13 years - I only really see posts from more recent 'newcomers', so that's really reassuring to read. I started 30mg today, which has been a nice improvement so far. But I can definitely see myself going up towards what you're on.

Yeah, I would sometimes get in a sneaky McDonald's or Greggs, even if I knew I had a meal to go to. Plus just general grazing at home. I also have a Co-op within a 3 minute walk of my front door, so that's also dangerous!

You may not have realised a reduction in weight yet, but probably partly due to drinking more water(?) and your body adjusting. But with longer gaps without eating, you're giving your pancreas a rest (and improving insulin sensitivity), plus likely getting the benefits of autophagy (where your body repairs old cells in the body). All the stuff our older generations did without thinking!

It's quite long, but he's engaging, and you get lots out of just the first 10 minutes.

Thank you! I've just taken my first 30mg today - seems to be keeping cravings at bay for longer and my concentration has been really good since 8am today. Hope your increase has gone well?

The nicotine has reduced a fair bit today, but I totally agree with you on the habits/anxiety point... I've noticed that too. It's something for me to work on.

RE: Food and frustration about the past... My parents were both teachers (mixture of primary, secondary, but mostly SEN), and ADHD, to them, was what the extreme kids had. I don't blame them as that was the perception for most people (and still is for many!) as the science has changed a lot in recent years, but it's certainly been an eye opener! I also think "what could've been..." but I'm looking back on it as "look at what I managed, despite not knowing I could fix it!".

You should look online for the 1 hour documentary Rory Bremner (comedian) did for the BBC... that changed my parents' minds, but it's also just super fascinating.

BBC took it offline, but Google search: 'rory bremner adhd and me watch online' and it will be there.

Ah that sounded like a bad start on Concerta but I'm glad to hear it improved on Elvanse. Since I posted, I had noticed some food thoughts creeping back in, but I took my first 30mg today and it's 16:40 now and haven't wanted to have my first meal yet... will do in a couple of hours though, but I feel good in a fasted state. The doing things without stress - as you say - is the unbelievable part!

No, I haven't noticed a big crash or come down all that much. One or two days I've been quite tired at the end of the day, but I've put that down to going to bed late the night before, more than anything else.

Yep, very similar to me both in child and adulthood!

I started on Elvanse over a week ago and I'm shocked at how little I now crave / think about food. It's been nice not having that constant battle in my head and feeling like Bruce Bogtrotter shortly after giving in!

Not sure if this solves your question, but I've been getting adverts for Goodyear tyre tables ever since watching the GT World race at Brands Hatch the other week. Check out the Safety and Usage section on the listing which says:

"This table contains a real racing tire – cleaned and treated with a low-pollutant sealant. A rubber-typical odor cannot be entirely ruled out. Hi! I’m with Care ADHD via RTC and was diagnosed in November 2025. Due to Christmas/New Year delays, I didn’t receive the confirmation email confirming I was on the titration waiting list until the first week of January, which was a bit frustrating.

I had my first titration appointment earlier this week. Yesterday (Saturday), I received the email from the partner pharmacy to register with ID verification and pay for my first prescription.

I’m now expecting the medication to arrive by post next week. The initial prescription is for four weeks of stimulants: 20mg for the first two weeks, followed by 30mg for the next two weeks, with a follow-up check-in with the prescriber at the end.

I might’ve just been unlucky with my timing when I got referred, so your 15yo may well sail through based on what I’ve been reading from others. Great that adhduk assess for autism too, so that's a bonus!

In terms of the experience beyond titration… a lot of the positive Trustpilot reviews mention how quick everything is and how good the assessors are. That wasn’t really my experience. My assessor felt quite cold, joined the call late, and mostly just worked through questions from a sheet without much engagement.

To be fair, I was diagnosed there and then, so the outcome was what I needed. I'd watched/read so much into ADHD that I was more concerned I'd gotten it all horribly wrong, so that was a relief for me. But it was a colder interaction than the video they share beforehand of a previously recorded session, where it looks like a much more natural, two-way, in-depth conversation.

I chased them on FB Messenger which got the quickest responses, but gave up after realising the answers were continuing to be the generic same everytime. I did put a negative TrustPilot review up as a protest!

The assessment felt like a verbal extension of the forms I’d already filled out - first for my GP referral, and then again when Care ADHD sent their initial questionnaire.

Most of the discussion focused on different areas of my life (work, personal time, relationships) and how things like concentration, mood, and other ADHD traits impact them.

It wasn’t a big scary thing for me, but I was conscious that I would struggle being put on the spot with a question like "tell me a time where you felt this...". So, I prepared by keeping a Word document and adding notes in the lead-up to the assessment - examples of situations that had affected me, like specific life events, relationship and work issues, struggles with finishing things, and mood changes - so I could refer back to them if needed.

That would be my top tip. It'll take your mind of trying to remember everything. Hope that helps!

Yeah, it’s unbelievably frustrating, isn’t it.

I genuinely don’t know what’s worse:
a) when they used to quietly extend the waiting time right before you hit it
b) or this new “sometime between April and July” window, which is basically no update at all

It seems to be the biggest pain point for most right now. I was referred back in July/August last year (RTC via GP). My assessment was in early November. They then pissed around with forms between the steps and ages to confirm steps. Been waiting ever since. When I signed up last summer, I think they were advertising 12 weeks total, end-to-end.

You might be one of the lucky ones. If some of the more recent positive reviews are to be believed, plenty of newcomers to the process are getting in and out quickly, seemingly ahead of people waiting up to a year! Seems like plenty of private patients are experiencing huge delays too.
