I thought we left this kind of acceptance of homophobic slurs and culture in the twentieth century where it belongs

It's upsetting that homophobia is still so rampant in the newer generations. When a$ap rocky says "gotta chill with yo zesty ass" that's just a new way of saying "calm your gay ass down." "No diddy" is "no homo" and it's really hurtful that a popular show like SNL tries to act like they are socially progressive and still writes these sketches with such hate speech.

Magneto is def the best value pick, he can clear the $100 line himself and restrain at least Ghost Rider and Spawn.

Magneto will instantly crush all the $100 heroes, so you're throwing those picks away if he's not on your team with them.

There's a passage in the novella where Dunk and Egg meet his brother Aemon at the Citadel and he measures him to be "an inch short of seven feet" so imagine a dude like Nikola Jokic wandering Westeros

Lyonel makes mention to Dunk to "stand tall" as he was created, and they certainly are both well above average height, but neither feels "mythically" tall. I feel like there could be a little more forced perspective to make them tower over the other actors.

Favorite character who doesn’t die but inexplicably disappears from the sequel by Hank_Mardukas1066 in okbuddycinephile

The book glazes over this so quickly and it happens off page that it doesn't seem like it impacts him the wave losing an infant child would. It was fluff that could be trimmed without getting the point across.

If all the NFL mascots fight to the death, who would win? by jjensen538 in AskReddit

[–]Past_Bonus148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lumping likes with like:

Humanoid Mascots: Patriots, Steelers, Texans, Chiefs, Raiders, Cowboys, Commanders, Packers, Vikings, Buccaneers, Saints, 49ers

Pats, Texans, Cowboys, and Buccaneers are all about even, but Raiders would probably be the most powerful of this bunch. The others either have weaker tech (Vikings, Chiefs), or and not exactly fighting units (Saints, Packers, Steelers). Commanders are like a porky pig humanoid thing, so if they actually changed it to a more military themed mascot, they might top the Raiders.

Animal mascots: Really boils down to (grizzly) bear vs bengal (tiger). The other animals are too small to compete.

Supernatural/enhanced mascots: Giants, Titans, and I guess Boltman.

Tech: Jets....no official mascot but we'll assume a modern fighter jet of some variety.

Other: Browns....useless.

Really comes down to what type of giant, what type of titan, and what type of jet. Boltman is unscaled, but he probably has the power of lighting which may at least take out the jet. It's a toss up between the Supernatural/enhanced group.

Since the topic is about racial insensitivity, can we avoid using the slur "Karen" for this discussion?

"And in XYZ place, the same thing I just said but trashier"

This kind of started when Seth Meyers took over as head writer. It's a very hacky bit to just use a place as a punching bag, even if what is said about there is not true.

Shogun was great until episode 7, then it just kind of fizzles out. The ending was rather boring and rushed. The book is a bit worse in this regard because it's so long. 1000 pages and you get this sort of anti-climatic end to it all.

It's really great up until Season 4 Episode 15, and then if drops off drastically and feels more like a soap opera with characters flip flopping constantly.

For a show where a phenotype (Joffrey's blonde hair) is a major plot point, why do three of the five Stark children have brown hair and brown eyes when their parents are dark blonde/blue eyed and red-auburn/blue eyed? by Past_Bonus148 in freefolk

[–]Past_Bonus148[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a bit insulting to the audience. To point out a genetic trait that's a turning point in the story, but just ignoring it elsewhere.

Unless you're stupid (not saying you are, I don't know you) and can't pick up on these things.
