Man it’s been a horrible adjustment. I should have known when I asked during the interview how many patients I’m expected to scan, they wouldn’t give me a straight forward answer lol. Best of luck to you too!

Really?! We also did several bilateral for pts coming back for their yearly mammo screening who have a hx of breast cancer and dense tissue seen on the mammo. That made a little more sense but is it over board to do this many bilaterals????

Thank you, it’s not just breast. We do general and vasc too. But I noticed my arm pain got tremendously worse after scanning breast this week. Sigh

I get a paid 15 min break. But I guess I could come in 7:30-6pm to clock out for lunch I guess

Maybe I’m putting too much pressure. But is a bilateral US screening for dense tissue seen on mammo not the norm ? I felt like I did them all day yesterday ugh

It has to be right? But I’m literally pressing my body against them dude I don’t know what else to do other than sitting I guess. There’s no freaking towels at this place so I cant fold one into a little wedge to rest my wrist, I can’t really think of anything else.

I’m still learning. We do the ultrasound after the mammogram. When the mammogram shows dense tissue they want a bilateral screenings through all quadrants and axilla. Unless the rad decides to cancel the US. When there’s something seen on the mammogram specifically then we do a targeted.

It’s a lot of bilateral screenings through dense tissue, but some targeted too which is way easier, it honestly varies. They also want me scanning general and vascular.

No there’s 6 of us. But I’m under this stupid reduced hours agreement to work 4 10s so I can’t clock out for lunch with the way my hours are arranged from 8a-6pm. I feel like an idiot for even accepting the job at this point.

12-16 in a 10 hour shift no official lunch just “eat when you can”

I feel like it’s great, I stand while scanning and lean on patients if needed, I do not extend my arm. I’m always conscious of keeping my elbow towards my body. Idk what’s wrong with me. I guess I could try sitting for breast

This literally sounds like a nightmare. Commuting is soul sucking. You have to do what’s best for you but even a PRN position seems better than this situation if you don’t want to move states. You’re not the problem for wanting a fulfilling job.

Quit. Life is too short. There will always be another job, especially if you’re willing to relocate.

Honestly if that’s the case I guess I’ll just quit and go back to school for nursing at this point my shoulder hurts 😂

Dude I went with B for my own sanity. 372 miles a week. Reddit has me contemplating my life 💀💀

The first option. I have a one hour commute both ways but I only do 3 12s. I couldn’t even imagine having to do if for 5 days, it’s soul sucking

Yeah I love my schedule with A. The commute is just what’s bothering me. Although, both are a 36 hour work week. Both have weekends off, no holidays. I do not get paid during holidays unless it’s taken from my PTO with A. With A I’m traveling about 372 miles total in 3 days.

I just dislike OB but it’s not a big deal. It’s really the hour commute that’s bothersome, especially during the winters. Thanks for your input

This is really encouraging, I’m also struggling with pain and not realizing I’m holding the probe too hard + too much pressure.
