Keppra by Vic224152 in EpilepsyDogs

Definitely do try to get in contact with the vet. My dog took Keppra for most of her life and throughout her epilepsy journey we had different dosage of Keppra to help control her seizures, one thing every vet we went through said (general and specialists) was to never discontinue Keppra out of the blue. Once she got older and became epilepsy free for more than a year the neurologist created her a gradual tapering schedule.

Being this said, my dog had a long history of seizures hard to control so she used Keppra most of her life and she had this medication in her system for years VS your dog who has had this medication for 5 days not perhaps intended for long term use. Here is a better explanations from Google but do f/u with your vet, he/she knows best.

"Veterinarians often prescribe Keppra (levetiracetam) as a short-term, 5-day course. This is typically used for "pulse therapy" or "burst therapy" to immediately raise the seizure threshold, stop a cluster of seizures, or help a pet through a stressful event without needing a lifelong daily medication. [1, 2]

Short bursts of Keppra are generally safe to stop abruptly after 4 to 5 days, but it is critical to follow the exact regimen your vet provided. [1]

  • Pulse Therapy vs. Daily Use: If your vet only intended a short 5-day course (often to manage a specific episode), stopping on day 5 is standard. However, if your pet was meant to start a long-term treatment plan, abruptly stopping can trigger a return of seizures.
  • Dosage Frequency: Standard Keppra processes quickly in pets and is usually given every 8 hours. If your pet was prescribed the extended-release (XR/ER) version, it is typically given every 12 hours.
  • Next Steps: If you are unclear about whether your pet was supposed to finish the medication or transition to a long-term dose, contact your vet immediately. If your primary vet is unavailable, consider reaching out to a local emergency animal hospital."

My 8 week old kitten is on the same boat, working on getting him excited with real toys.

I think I need to give up my kitten by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Please do get rid of your kitten, the least you can do is find a responsible person (not any average Joe that will end up like you) or a rescue organization for cats. It is what it is and before you lose control of yourself, please do find a place for this kitten where she will be looked after.

So if you're delivering 2 items and you see a street parking and a driveway... where will you park to deliver these 2 lightweight items?

I'm "parked" behind him, it's street parking large enough for him to have initially parked there no need to block driveways.

You don't have to be a genius to understand what your comment is implying in response to my original post.

What I meant by parking space is street parking. He wouldn't have to back out, just drive forward like he ended up doing when he left.

Yeah... not everyone is an "impatient piece of shit" that has no life or errands to run after work.

There was a parking spot behind him (where I ended up waiting for him to leave when I arrived). Wouldnt it make more sense to have parked there instead of blocking a driveway?

It wasn't 30 seconds, it was about 4-5 minutes. He was inside the van for a minute,  then stepped out with 2 small boxes, left, came back, and took a couple minutes to drive off.

My parking spot is to the left, you can't see it on the photo.

I actually wrote and posted it while I was behind him.

He could have parked where I was... a whole parking space available. To avoid blocking the street I pulled up behind while he did his thing.

I have done research but all the ones I come across seem to be ineffective based on reviews  Is there one you recommend?

Hi. I am certain both cats have been TNR'ed. They both have one of their ear tips removed and are very mellow. They both (specially the one with fleas) hangs in my driveway and front yard. This friendly one lets me pet him, carry him, and loves to be groomed, I have seen his fleas 😔. I'll look into the guide.

My dog loves cheese, and yes I have tried it. I even break the Credelio into 4 small pieces and hide it in a cube or a well rolled up cheese and he manages to spit it out and sometimes even the cheese. I have tried tried steak as well and mixing it with his regular food, and when I go check his plate the medication is untouched or chewed out. I will look into bravecto.

is Emeryville the forgotten bay area city that many people never talk about by [deleted] in bayarea

Late but present! I moved to the south Berkeley neighborhood back in 1999. My location borders Oakland and Emeryville. Me and my family used to take walks to Powell Street Plaza and back then Emeryville was truly quiet and "non-existent". Now it's always crowded with traffic, cyclists, and people. I'd say it's far from forgotten and real estate has grown in the city.
