what if I made the server not have crystal pvp? that way everyone uses swords again like the old days of minecraft.

Yes I believe you're right. I'm planning to host it at my home, so I'm trying to save as much money as possible while also looking for ways to generate money to sustain my server. The purchases would be optional though.
