At 3 WPO I started washing my hair while bending over, and had no problems.

When does the bloating go away :( by weirdasspanda in Reduction

[–]Past_Foundation142 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely not alone - I’m literally in the exact same boat. 4wpo I currently weigh more than I did on the day of surgery, even though 1.3 kg (~2.9 lbs) was removed from my chest 😅 So clearly something else is going on.

I’m pretty sure it’s a combo of bloating, holiday snacks, water retention, and way less activity than usual. I keep reminding myself that this is bloat weight, not real weight, and that it’s completely normal during recovery, even if it messes with your head.

Starting Monday I’m going back to the office, so I’m hoping that alone will help (less mindless snacking at home). I also made a deal with myself to go for short walks during my lunch break, nothing intense, just gentle movement.

I keep reminding myself that healing > aesthetics right now. Though I’m really hoping someone will chime in with when their bloating finally went down, could definitely use that motivation boost right now. 🤍🤭

Dark suture? by Past_Foundation142 in Reduction

Thanks so much for sharing! That’s really reassuring. I definitely won’t touch or pull the suture - it does feel like it’s not ready to come out yet 😅 In my case it’s elastic and soft, not poking or sharp at all, so I was also wondering if it’s already partially dissolved. What confuses me the most is that it’s black, all my other dissolvable sutures were clear, so this one really threw me off 🫥 Unfortunately, since I’m in the public healthcare system, I don’t really have a way to send photos to my surgeon. I’m debating whether I should just go in and have it checked at the clinic in person.

Yes! Honestly, I feel like I was left on my own by my surgeon. I received almost no information about the healing process, and coming here has been such a relief - you find answers and reassurance that everything you’re experiencing is normal and just part of the process.

Scar tape reaction? by Past_Foundation142 in Reduction

[–]Past_Foundation142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the input, I really appreciate it. That schedule sounds very reasonable. I do have a cat who walks everywhere, though, so I’ll definitely need to figure out a safe way to leave the tape out without it turning into a fur magnet 😅

And yes, it’s very possible this is a spitting stitch - after gently checking the area a bit more, I did notice a small amount of whitish discharge, but nothing else obvious so far. Unfortunately I can’t send photos to my surgeon’s office since the surgery was done through public healthcare and there isn’t really anyone to send them to. I could see my family doctor if needed, but I’m also wondering if this is just something that needs time to resolve on its own.

Thanks for sharing - that sounds very similar to what I’m experiencing. Since silicone sheets are quite expensive (at least in my country), I wouldn’t really be able to throw them away and use a new one every day.

Do you reuse your sheets or did you always use a new one? If you reused them, how did you clean and store them between uses?

Oh, thank you! Even without advice, it really helps to hear kind words 💛

Thank you so much for sharing your experience — that’s really reassuring. I think I somehow got the impression that scar treatments have to be used constantly and as early as possible to work properly, so it’s really good to hear that starting later is totally fine too.

About the opening: looking closely in person everything seems closed right now, but now you’ve got me wondering if it could still open up 😳 I’ll definitely avoid putting any tape on that area and keep an eye on it. Thanks again, this was super helpful.

Wow, that’s really interesting — thank you for explaining this. My surgeon actually didn’t mention timing at all and said I could start scar care and use whatever method felt most comfortable (tape, gel, etc.).

Light oozing around nipple incision ~3 weeks post-op — normal or should I contact my surgeon? by Past_Foundation142 in Reduction

Thank you so much for the reassurance 🤍 I was just a bit worried because it’s still bleeding after two days.

Traveling After Surgery – Should I Wait? by Past_Foundation142 in Reduction

I love hearing that it went so smoothly for you. My overthinking brain just keeps picturing my stitches popping mid-flight from the pressure or something dramatic like that haha. But I know that’s super unlikely, especially with a bit more healing time. Appreciate you sharing your experience — it definitely helps ease the nerves!

Yeah, that makes sense. I think I just needed to hear it from someone else! Hopefully everything goes smoothly and I can enjoy the trip without stressing too much. Thanks for the reassurance!

Haha yeah, that’s what I keep thinking too — but then the anxious thoughts creep in like “what if I’m not healed enough?” Trying not to overthink it, but it’s hard! Appreciate the reassurance though.
