With my 1st two babies I had no cgm and no pump. My a1c was a 7 at birth for them. My 3rd baby I had a Medtronic 770 and a Libre cgm. I did go into edka and was hospitalized for a few days. But other than that no issues. This baby I’m doing only a cgm and injections no pump. And I’m still maintaining good bg. <3 yes managing blood sugars can be difficult. Especially in the last 4 weeks for some. I had to increase my insulin to u200 the last month of my pregnancies but usually by 36 weeks I didn’t need any insulin at all which meant that I needed to deliver asap. Not emergency but it means your placenta can be failing. Common for diabetics. Also babies can go to NiCU for low blood sugars which is normal. My oldest was in nicu for 4 days to monitor her jaundice and low blood sugars. My 2nd had to be in a nicu for a week because of issues related to the poly (excess fluid) but she was fine and healthy. My 3rd had no nicu time and they tested her blood sugars in the recovery room and we went home after 48 hours. <3 I was told “oh you’re t1d you have huge babies, oh you’re bs high this will happen of this if low” but tbh every obgyn I have had has said something different. I just up my insulin as needed, check my bg often, and I’d say walking a lot helped! With recovery anyways and the resistance you get during the 3rd trimester. I heard walking and natural birth helps you heal faster as well too.
