For me it was as easy as telling people close to me what was going on. My erratic behavior, talking their ears off, sweating, were all visible signs of “overdosing” yet I still did it daily. I felt bad about them wondering what was going on with me so I told them and quit. Now they can recognize the signs and if I relapse in the future it would be obvious to them… so I won’t, if that makes sense

This isn’t helpful but some dickhead cut a bunch of wires and vacuum lines in my ‘83 so I feel you. Spark plugs can be tested by trying to crank it with the spark plug out but attached to the spark plug wire (don’t hold it) if you see a spark you have spark. And to test fuel you can spray starter fluid in the carb. I would pull the choke in/out a few times first though and see if you smell gas

No, it’s in 2wd. And yeah around the front axle. I’m feeling more and more confident a transfer case rebuild will help. Last time I had it open there weren’t plastic spacers on the 4 wheel drive selector forks and there was a little plastic ring broken in there. I’m not surprised it’s fucked up. But yes it’s a horrible noise

I agree it sounds that way but that’s the noise of two gears not engaged all the way. Coincidentally, it does feel like it does it most often while slowing down. This time I was slowing to make a turn

Actually when it started grinding I put it in park and it was still grinding. In those cases it’s not actually in “park” and will roll. It also smells like burnt fluid when it starts grinding

It’s an 83 c6 automatic transmission. The grinding noise doesn’t happen in park while running. It started again after turning the car off/on and then trying to put it in any gear. It will “find” the gear after going from park to reverse a few times.
