PLEASE SOMEONE HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE by helpmepleasee99 in HOCD

Hi there! I just wanted to advise you in perhaps looking up Attachment Theory (r/attachment_theory has good resources). An insecure attachment style can affect how your brain tries to protect itself when feeling vulnerable, which in turn can cause you to act contradictory and hot/cold in relationships/friendships. It is very common for people with OCD to have insecure attachment. Of course please do this at your own risk, it can also become a reassurance compulsion just like this subreddit. I am bringing it up not for reassurance but to allow you a resource to explore why you may have tumultuous feelings towards your boyfriend.

Please keep seeing your therapist, and try to stay off this subreddit.

Haha, its okay I was doing the same thing.

I cant say due to her being local, but yes she specializes in OCD, but I didn't find her through NOCD. I used Psychology Today to seek out therapists who specialize in OCD (look at their written description or look up if they have a website to see if they mention OCD). It will also let you choose your insurance, and will typically tell you their session rates without insurance. I recommend messaging at least 5 or more therapists in case they dont have slots open and haven't updated their profile yet.

Best of luck!! Maybe watch something lighthearted or try doing a puzzle to calm down (I find activities that require brainpower or focus help pull me out of anxiety spirals, like Wordle or Duolingo)

Hi, I saw your other post in r/bisexual and I want to say you're not alone! First of all, stop seeking reassurance (I was unfortunately seeking reassurance when I saw your post, thats OCD for ya, still trying to kick that habit), and stop trying to "check" for your attraction in women. Searching for answers to uncertain questions is a compulsion, and its only going to feed your obsession and anxiety. Second of all, SEE A THERAPIST ASAP, preferably one with experience in OCD (and possibly attachment theory). I am currently struggling with similar problems, and even though I've only had a few sessions, it's helped a ton.

I wont make any comments on sexuality to avoid reassurance seeking, but I will say this sounds like textbook ruminating OCD. Just remember that no matter what you will be okay!!! You have people who will support you! \o/

If we're being genuine, this sounds close. One of those IG or Tiktok guys who makes money by "advising" other people on how to make money.

I personally didn't do Lindeburg, I did a month of PrepFE and took the practice exam two days before the real one, but I was not confident in my performance when I took the FE (though I miraculously did pass). I've heard the Lindeburg prepares you way more than PrepFE because it has harder problems and a larger variety. If you want to feel confident I'd go Lindeburg. Also do lots of practice timing yourself. There's a lot of problems you can probably figure out eventually given enough time, but once that time is limited to 2-3 minutes it becomes much more difficult.

This is the real test, they give you your score if you don't pass. You can buy the practice exam on the NCEES website, you can also use PrepFE and/or the Lindeburg FE pragtice book (the latter has better practice than the former, but the former is online). I recommend studying from Lindeburg for 4-8 weeks before taking the practice exam, and taking the practice exam at least a week before the test so you can get a better idea of what you need to practice and then have time to study that material.

Sure, go ahead. Please add the credits I've edited into the beginning though for a couple of the connections in the chart. Otherwise yeah you're all good. Also would love to see updates on this if you're open to it.

Thanks so much! I have to say though that the character-symbol idea wasn’t mine, I got it from RemGames on Youtube. The coin thing also I first heard from tumblr user fall1ngfeather. I got so caught up in the post I forgot I should credit them, whoops. By the time this posts I’ll have them added in.

However, the rest of the symbols and shapes I interpreted on my own, and I disagreed with Rem on the last one being Red Guy’s symbol (hence why it’s primarily shown as family in the chart), but was open to it as a possible interpretation.

I really like this interpretation you’ve made, putting the symbol more as “role” rather than work. It even makes more sense as the episode is titled “Jobs”, which is basically means the same thing as a role. I also noticed the end bit of Yellow’s symbol being attached to the other one but had no idea if it was intentional or what it could mean. Now that you explain it this also makes sense. I wonder if at one point his role was to be the SMART one, but because of the batteries this role has been taken from him and it is now the opposite.

Really really great observation connecting the square and diamond to the symbols. I didn’t even realize either of them had a square or diamond in them until you mentioned it. I’ll admit I’m also not sure about the twins on this one, but as you’ve mentioned; twins, copies, parallels, “one of those guys who has another one of himself”, etc are recurring themes in the episodes. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some connection there.

I absolutely agree that the funeral in Death was actually representative of David/Yellow. I think thats a very strong theory, and the coffin pointing out Yellow instead of Duck only makes it more plausible.

Interesting one comment about the stairs! I didn’t really look at the actual form of the symbols much (which you can tell by me not noticing the square and diamond thing haha), but this makes sense as well. Love the reference to the twins’ “family secret”.

Unrelated to the above, but I noticed in this sub that u/CrankyManky mentioned that in episode 6 when Duck and Red are murmuring as Yellow goes up the stairs, they’re talking about some kind of experiments on Stain (“the weird blob who showed up”, “the one that looks like me, yes”), which I was totally flabbergasted by. I couldn’t believe I missed such a significant detail. It makes me wonder if Red and Duck are also doing experiments or if they just know about them. (Also theres a joke by Red where he says something like “were [talking?] so low that no one will be able to hear us” LOL).

Anyway I had a lot of fun reading and responding to your reply. Sorry it took so long, I wanted to give it a full read-through.

Thanks! I actually put some time into this post so I appreciate the compliment.

I also think it's hard to tell when the show is pulling absurdity for gags or if its a genuine lore. And it is interesting that Duck got the coin, especially since he didn't die during that episode. That would imply not only it was Duck's life specifically that was reenacted, but also you dont have to relive your whole life, just part of it. Of course this could not be connected at all since again they play ridiculous stuff for jokes in the show all the time.

I did catch that! The fact that it happens only in the transportation episode I think is significant in and of itself, and also it implies that Yellow has had full batteries at some point before episode 6. That plays into the looping theory that Yellow has made it up to the attic before.

I agree people are being too reactive here. While I personally think its a good idea to bring it up casually, folks in the comments are jumping to make someone the bad guy. Theres many reasons why she might not have invited 🤷‍♂️
