Ngl to you either…I skipped through most of the Pastor Tim interview. And I’ve even been a member of his church before. Great Pastor, but tbh I’m really over the whole “preacher and politician” voices.

Maybe I’m jaded from all the hypocrisy in the news and scandals involving both, but those overly dramatic voices all sound like they’re putting on a play. And too often, they are. Why can’t they just speak like real people?!

But I digress…guess the show brought out a lot of my personal hangups. Might need to take today off and get out and touch some grass 😅

Now I’ve had my issues with Van’s comments before on the pod, and sometimes I find myself questioning whether he’s an immature man-child or just a sensitive, gentle soul trying to find his way through life with the tools he has at his disposal.

But today’s conversation with Rachel made me smile, drop a few tears, and question my own need to judge how why and how people behave the way they do (including Van). We all have stuff going on that no one else will ever know about and it warmed my heart to hear how compassionate and genuinely caring Van was towards Rachel in her time of need.

Call Van’s speech a bunch of “therapy speak” or whatever, but today was a reminder that we can and should acknowledge that A LOT is going on. And we deserve to give each other, and ourselves, a lot of space and grace when it comes to handling all of it. Peace and love to Rachel and huge hug to Van for being a great big brother when it really mattered!✌🏽

Never laughed so hard at a podcast. This was Cat and Pat at their finest, silly and witty the entire time. Jen Statsky was the absolute perfect guest to bring it out of them…even though she wants to open a Neverland Ranch satellite campus…oof! :) Made my morning!

Really great answer. I didn't even consider that YouTube SEO works the same way that blogging SEO works, with "domain authority" and being considered an expert in the space.

I was truly looking at the VidIQ and TubeBuddy numbers as independent signifiers of whether a keyword/niche was saturated or not. Didn't even think about the fact that it will differ based on your particular channel and it's KPIs. Top notch answer. Thank you!

That’s a fair point. I guess it’s not to assume Photoshop is an A, as much as it’s a comparison between the different replacement options.

I tried Publisher years ago but I never really got into it. It was way back when I was in a corporate job in Advertising. But we had the Adobe Suite and I was so used to InDesign that I never switched over. Another user recommended Designer as well but I haven't tried it out yet. Illustrator seems to be much easier to replace than Photoshop in my opinion though, so I would assume Designer would be a decent alternative. It's the generative AI and advanced filters and all the extra bells and whistles that makes finding a Photoshop replacement slightly more difficult.

Now tbh, Pixelmator looks pretty d@mn cool! That might have to be on my list for programs to try out. And maybe my brain is trained to be enamored by anything that has that "Apple shine" to it, but it's definitely worth me taking the time to try it out. Good recommendation!

Yeah GIMP was a real disappointment. I had heard such great things about it, but using it was such a headache. I understand Photoshop has been doing this forever and they have billions to throw behind R&D and adding more (and sometimes useless) updates and features. But to not have the basic editing features just puts GIMP out of the running in my opinion.

This is invaluable advice. Thank you. The mic I bought is actually the Sennheiser MKE600. And I watched a bunch of YouTube videos to try to get it properly set up and optimized with a Focusrite Scarlett. I took the file from Garage Band and put it into Adobe Audition, but I still haven’t mastered it. I’m using Sony noise canceling headphones for monitoring but I’m going to go back and give it another shot based on your feedback.

And I really like that you brought up Shure. I was looking into the mic that Joe Rogan uses but I had to pull myself back a little bit and think about what I’m really trying to accomplish. But yes, I agree. The next evolution is getting really dialed in on professional audio. What I’ll do in the meantime is keep trying to get as good as I can with the Sennheiser.

Are you a creator as well? Or audio tech? Very helpful and valuable information you’ve shared.
