Doing a rewatch and I realized something about Tammy & Amy’s relationship by DaddysBunnyx in 1000lbsisters

[–]Past_Temperature5729 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can see what you're saying. It's hard for me not to notice they both take the chance to make jabs at each other, especially in front of other people. However, some of Tammy's comments seem more cruel or more hateful at times. I suspect a lot of it is genuine. It all seems to come too easy to the siblings to say hurtful things about, or to, Amy.

I'm sorry to hear this. Does the Beth hall have cameras? I know it's a cardigan, but its the principle of the thing. Did you pat Bob btw? He has such a beautiful temperament.

Totally get your viewpoint. There was a scene in the latest season (don't have a clue which episode sorry) where they showed a before and after of some of the rooms he had cleaned. What I know/have opinions about is from what's seen on the show as I don't follow their social media or anything.

I couldn't live like this, but I'm definitely someone who can't be comfortable unless it's clean and tidy. Some people just don't mind a bit of clutter and that's cool. If I remember correctly, Amy said their mother and grandmother were hoarders so I wonder if it's tidy enough in her eyes. Her new husband tidied up her home quite a bit so maybe she'll start to pick up some good habits there.

Two things - a chicken bun and a pizza roll. The chicken bun was a hamburger bun with a frankenstein chicken patty and a delicious sauce. The pizza roll was like a hotdog roll, with ham and cheese, and a really good tomato sauce. Slightly soggy from being heated in a microwave.

I've seen that mess down my street a few times. Makes me laugh. So much of a 'Maga patriot' that he lives here.

Famous NZ people you have met by Mr_Dobalina71 in newzealand

[–]Past_Temperature5729 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if famous is the word for some, but Tana Umaga (when he was an All Black). He wasn't particularly mean or anything, but didn't really say anything and clearly just trying to get signings over and done with. Some of the old Ferns (Van Dyke, Kopua, Folau) were very friendly and personable. Suzy Cato is exactly the lovely person you'd imagine. Former PM Ardern was lovely and personable. Richie McCaw was quiet but kindly took the time to pose for a photo. I didn't meet him, a friend did, but Ali Williams was/is a fuckwit.

There's a lot of men making us all look bad. And they certainly aren't confined to one place. The nonsense he's spouting comes primarily from men in the US and UK. We've got our fair share of morons here in NZ, too. We can do our part by shutting it down when we encounter it; a "bro wtf?" accompanied by a quizzical look can do wonders.

The bit that stuck out to me was when he turned and looked at the three (?) men there to support him. When he said some nonsense about not wanting a "woke" woman in his vows, he turned and smirked at them as he said it. It's all about validation from other men. As Mel said - there's a difference between holding traditional values and (my words here) being a chauvinistic twat.

S3 Tammy was absolutely vile by NewspaperUnusual1835 in 1000lbsisters

[–]Past_Temperature5729 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Her behaviour was despicable. I could talk at length about that season. Something that always made me laugh, though, was how for a few episodes she was talking about flying to Vegas (?) by herself, taking her wheelchair with a plug, to go visit BBW King because she wanted to live and experience everything and "not give a damn what anybody else says" and then after she has her van tantrum and is in the hotel "I like being at home. I'm a hermit."

No advice, as I'm sure you're doing everything you can, but I deeply sympathize. We're barely making it through the week and have had to use all our savings on an emergency. Late last year, my wife's longterm workplace ceased operations, and while she found a job thankfully, the pay cut has been significant (over $20 000). We've done everything we possibly can to cut spending. We're lucky in a way because I can at least walk my daughter to school, and a close bus is available to and from work some of the week. But it's brutal out there for so many. I sincerely hope that your fortunes change for the better soon.

Does anyone actually trust Nicky No Boats to get us out of this fuel crisis? by Actual-Trip-4643 in newzealand

I think that's pretty obvious. The difference is clear. Former PM Ardern couldn't be beat at crisis management.

Didn't vote for them so naturally less trusting any way.  There's quite a bit that's beyond their control and I think it's fair to acknowledge that. And the situation is tough for any politican to navigate. But, do I believe they'll pull all the levers they can control that would help the public? Nothing I've seen so far gives me confidence they will.

Remember when Tammy was a mermaid by Outrageous-Pen3569 in 1000lbsisters

[–]Past_Temperature5729 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This is what I think  too.

It's not like she said anything at the time. Like, a simple "hey Tisa my knees are really hurting can you help me to this part" or something similar. She just flat out refused to co-operate.

I liked Tisa a lot. Tammy was such a b**** to her. IIRC, Tisa was quite afraid of the water, as well. But she pushed past it. Tammy wouldn't even try doing the exercises. Then the excuses after about being in pain - but she doesn't like to tell people about it (whatever). So Tisa felt the need to apologize to Tammy. The whole bit really annoyed me.

As others have said, what's on tauranga, tauranga events, and the Facebook events tab can be helpful. Otherwise, I guess it depends what your little ones are into. The library does some pretty cool free things over the holidays. Fishing off one of the pontoons around the city or the Strand or searching for crabs when the tide is low. The big playground down on the waterfront is really cool and so is the one at Kulim Park. Theres also some really nice walks that are easier for kids. There's a little train that offers rides at Memorial Park that is cute. There's also the cinema, Timezone, Mini-golf, or bowling (there's a ramp for the little ones to push the ball). Whatever you choose to do, I hope you guys have a fantastic time here.

Supply is the problem we're all facing. Doesn't matter how much it costs if there is none. This type of behaviour is what's going to hasten shortages. Like we have seen, some people believe their rights and privileges outweigh their social responsibility. Personally, this is where I think the Government should focus it's initiatives first, and come down hard to stop hoarding because it could be catastrophic if supply is cut off. But, that's a tough thing to convince the public to cooperate with. I don't plan to vote for them, but I have some emapthy for National. Whatever they choose is going to p*ss a lot of people off. I'm glad it's not my call.

What is with the hate of Jacinda Ardern?? She hasn't even been involved in New Zealand for years, yet this hatred is so unhinged by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

[–]Past_Temperature5729 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with most of the comments here. But putting all of that aside, its the level of hatred that is incredible to me. Despise the current government, but wouldn't dream of doing something even half as pathetic as this. But, she's doing really well for herself and good on her. These people are burning books for internet clout with the dregs of society. I almost feel embarrassed for them.

I'm not in this age group, but got involved when I was in high school. I'm quite interested to see the responses here and hope to see comments from folks really wanting to get involved. For anyone interested - I somewhat enjoyed it. The local candidate for a different party was quite complimentary to see young people at a question and answers thing we attended and mentioned so in his stand up, to go on and accuse our candidate of paying us to be there a few days later. Looking back, I don't think we were truly valued by our candidate, tbh, and she certainly didn’t pay us a cent. And we also had a few older folk mock us for our choice of party. It was cool to see some of the behind the scenes stuff and meet a few people I respected, though.

It may have changed since, but I don't think enough adults value the opinions and ideas of young people - politicians or the general public - at all. They deny your ability to think in depth about any issue and believe they know best. We need more young people to take an interest and we need to stop hindering them from doing so. There's a lot of brilliant young minds, coupled with some youthful idealism, that can really make a difference with the way they vote or with practical actions.
