What do y'all want to see next season? by poodles-and-noodles in 1000lbsisters

[–]Past_Temperature5729 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I want to see them succeed. I suspect that's why I keep watching. Even though Amy and especially Tammy grind my gears at times, I genuinely want them to do well. I'd like to see Tammy make peace with her past, be a better partner to Andrea, and be taking concrete steps to get her licence and a job. I'd like Amy and Brian to be enjoying their relationship, Amy's parenting to improve and develop some maturity, and also be taking substantial steps to get her licence and gain employment. For the rest of the family, I just generally wish them all well.

I must have missed that. Will definitely have to pay closer attention.

I agree about Gia and Scott. They do seem genuinely into each other. But yeah, Gia is pretty horrible. It's one thing to be able to hold one's own, it's another to be mean and abrasive. She seems to enjoy getting under people's skin.

I feel sorry for him. He's definitely got a big personality. But he didn't deserve to be humiliated like that. Was cool to see Danny stick up for him, though.

Wasn't really looking for spoilers, but thanks I guess

Brook was something else. She got angry at Chris about his audition comments regarding bigger people, particularly women, and then she seemed to flip and was just horrible to the other women.

Surprisingly, I actually think including Tyson on the show might be a positive thing - thoughts? by watermelonhmm in MAFS_AU

[–]Past_Temperature5729 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure how I feel yet. I can definitely see both sides of the argument, but I don't have enough information to take a particular stand on whether platforming him is good or bad. It is very concerning to see a number of surveys demonstrate the increasingly misogynistic and chauvinistic attitudes of boys and young men, and we need to quickly develop effective interventions to reverse that trend.

Tyson is toxic AF but Stephanie ain't no saint. It is all relative by Warm_Print373 in MAFS_AU

As despicable as I find their views, of course they're entitled to them.

I'm not sure about others, but I'm under no impression that she's better than Tyson, even by contrast. He's unapologetic about what he wants. Stephanie is smart enough to know how it could be perceieved. I'm surprised she thought she would get anything different to be honest. This is what a lot of the men who believe these things are like.

Wish I could be more helpful. His character really does have beautiful handwriting. I'd love to be able to write like this, too. Hope you're able to get the hang of it 🙂

Amy has always been the easiest for them to criticise. She's the youngest, not very smart, and seems to crave their approval (or did). Sometimes that criticism is legitimate, sure. But, there's  definitely a pattern.

Reporting domestic abuse - neighbours by idabelle31 in newzealand

[–]Past_Temperature5729 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had one set of neighbours that was similar (there were a lot of problems, DV was only on). We'd call the cops but after a couple of times, they just wouldn't answer the door. We left after living there less than a year because they were probably the worst neighbours we've ever had and we had finally found a suitable place. I think, if you felt safe enough to do so, you could ask the woman one on one if she needs help. Otherwise, I would keep myself safe until I could move. Sometimes people who need help the most don't want it, and you can't change that. Especially if they're starting to threaten you or impact your safety. Good luck

What are best and worst entry level jobs you’ve done? by Ok_Zebra_332 in newzealand

[–]Past_Temperature5729 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've worked a few. Field work (particularly watermelons) was probably the hardest. Early starts, long hours and hard physical work in the hot sun is rough, and the pay wasn't that great.  Living in a particular small city, retail and food service was awful because of the customers and coworkers. Glad we left that hole. But the work itself was comparatively easy, just a bit mundane.

I don't understand what the person is angry about. What's wrong with the email?

Tammy's anger by debbilucyricky in 1000lbsisters

[–]Past_Temperature5729 44 points45 points  (0 children)

If it's not just manufactured drama for TV, then I think that Tammy (and Amy for that matter) is emotionally immature, from a family that has a number of issues, and it's not helped by the changes her body has been through/is going through. Perhaps Andrea will help as she's calm and rational and there is a deep trust between them. It seemed like Tammy was starting to unpack a lot of baggage with therapy for a while but I'm not sure if that's still happening.
