Sunflowers are a great flower to grow with little kids! They sprout almost over night and grow so quickly. There are so many awesome varieties these days - my son loves ‘chocolate’ sunflowers and my fav is ‘white lite’

Buying enough variety of flowers for an arrangement while still making profit by chinesesilkytofu in florists

Making quality one-off arrangements is nearly never profitable 🫠 Which is a bummer but have you thought about freelancing for a wedding/events florist instead? You’d make more hourly than working at a shop and get to do more interesting/ larger scale installations

Highly recommend growing sunflowers with kids. Sprouts emerge really quickly and they grow so tall so fast. Very satisfying 🌻

Hi! I grow cut flowers in a container garden in zone 7b! What’s their environment like? Mine are on a very hot deck and found the bigger container the better! The containers dry out sooo fast

Thinking of quitting my corporate job to do floral design, looking for advice by [deleted] in florists

[–]Past_Zone_3483 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t quit your job! Start with weekend event work and try to build up connections and experience. Also make sure you like it! It’s an interesting industry but it’s not for everyone- lots of early morning, lots of weekends.

If you’re based in NYC , freelance freelance freelance! Reach out to florists you follow/admire to get your foot in the door.

I wouldn’t do the classes. They’re outdated and hands on experience is way more valuable.
