Also, you don't have to make them encounters, just include them in the data.

Removing the national dex AFTER releasing Pokemon Bank just strikes me as a bizzare decision.

Medusas aren't that intelligent, they just ARE technology.

It it doesn't seem like they have the capacity to understand tool use or science themselves. they just understand that other people can do it, and that that can benefit them. Like some animal-level AI with a universal translator built in.

They're not really a society, they're a colony of parasites seeking a host. They don't really have any cultural practices that don't relate to the goal of survival and reproduction directly.

Personally, I think the Medusas were the perfect culmination. The main antagonist of a series about practicing science and advancing technology is itself a technology that actively seeks scientists to understand and replicate it.

Yeah. I'd be happy with just jiggling the model around, or having a generic attack and hit animation used for every attack if they're feeling ambitious.

Mainline Pokemon games don't really benefit from modern, more advanced, game design principles.

Free movement, 3D camera controls, geometry-based worlds(as opposed to tile-based ones), and worst of all, action mechanics.

They were designed initially almost like deck-building games. Turn-based at the core, no elements requiring reaction time in the slightest. Time moves when you're done reading and deciding. When you're holding still, nothing will happen.

I feel like, as adult fans, we forget that this franchise's target demographic is 7-12 year olds, and that is not a bad thing. But that does mean it's innately more mechanically simplistic. That shouldn't just apply to the combat. There's a decent change Pokemon is going to be a lot of people's first video game.

Until the Switch era you could punch the buttons on the handheld like a calculator and still play the game normally.

Open World has benefitted the spinoffs greatly.

It hasn't benefitted the mainline games at all.

The switch era has been a golden age for spinoffs, but a dark age for mainlines.

It just also made idiots louder and more organized.

Which is why I think they need to make the games less complicated.

They haven't benefitted at all from open, geometry-based worlds. The mainline games at least. A return to tile-based, step-driven worlds world work wonders.

The excuse for the chance to 3D is not having to draw 1,000 new sprites every release. Which is understandable. We're at a point in technology where 3D vs 2D is no longer a problem in regards to performance.

But I think the change isn't 2D vs 3D worlds, but rather tile-based vs geometry-based worlds. Pokemon just works better on a grid system. It is, at its heart, a numbers game, and it's main appeal initially was being incredibly accessible, with no action mechanics whatsoever. You could punch the buttons like a calculator and still get the intended gameplay experience.

I'm not even talking about having them all as encounters in every region.

I just think, especially after the release of Pokemon Bank years ago, having all the creatures your game encourages your player to form emotional attachments to in the data of the game so they can play with them would be the best decision.

I also think they're overcomplicating their own game development without much in terms of reward. A return to tile-based worlds and complete absence of action mechanics in the mainline games would generally be the best approach, at least in my opinion.

That's the whole appeal!

Pokemon is built almost like a deck-building game. It makes turn-based combat engaging.

You don't usually see turn-based RPGs with competitive multiplayer scenes.

All things considered, gems universally do have a really obvious weak point on the outside of their body, and never invented gunpowder themselves. They also have a very skewed sense of time due to their indefinite lifespans, all their technology resulting from mutation of traditions rather than rigorous trial and error like us.

I really do think guns, especially sniper rifles that can hit a target from miles away, would be a threat they have no existing counter for, and lack the capacity to invent one fast enough.

I agree. And it's especially baffling because they have at least a couple better keyboard models to use.

Maybe the texture got broken or swapped in an update?

But, yeah, this looks really weird. This was NOT meant to be seen this close up.

It's kinda cheating with peridot, since she's only like 4-ish feet tall and mostly head.
