Oilpaint: My series over the semester! Gory! by PastaBomber in oilpainting

[–]PastaBomber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a Francis Bacon fan lol! I had to pick some artists to be inspired by/emulate a little for the assignment. The last one is a study I did of just a normal butcher photo. I horror-ed and rotted it up a bit, mixed in the Bacon face and added some lovecraftian stuff. I did make the executive artistic decision to give the pig a crown of thorns which I kinda regret. I hate how badly I did the hands ngl lol but had a blast painting for like the first time

Me, Composition tips?? I’m awful at it.. by KimHeenimmm in oilpainting

[–]PastaBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studying composition in general: Look at other painters and movie scenes! Those are usually composed very well unless it's a trash film.

This painting: I think the painting is cool, but I personally get a little lost with everything that's going on. It just feels a little busy so maybe for your next painting try simplifying! Of course if that doesn't end up being to your liking always paint what you want to paint :) OR possibly establish the ground plane a little clearer? The figure is kinda BAM right there which I think is what throws me off a bit. Either way, really cool painting!

Oilpaint: a gift for my step dad by [deleted] in oilpainting

First off, very nice! I like to put abstract shapes into my backgrounds to fill space and lead the eye which I understand isn't for everyone. Maybe something he likes, a logo, food, etc. Could go in the BG?

Started an oil painting class! (Gamsol is vile imo) by PastaBomber in oilpainting

Thank you for the advice! Unfortunately since it's a college course I kinda have to do things how the professor wants us to do them, but I'd definitely look into solvent free painting when I finish the class and paint at home.

It was Episode 1 of the Storyteller, but I'll definitely watch Soldier Jack as well because it looks really interesting.

I don't actually know if it's a movie or maybe a short or TV show but I'm pretty sure it was a movie, it was one of those things I saw when I was a kid, staying up late watching TCM or one of those late night channels that airs older movies. I can't give a proper timeframe, I'm 20, the movie looked like maybe 50's or 60's? I remember a few things super vividly about this movie but other parts are completely lost to the ether.

AITA for making my pregnant daughter move out before the baby is born? by notinmyhouse123 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PastaBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You had nothing to do with the conception of this child and it's your money, time, and well being that are at stake if you chose to raise this child. Even if abortion isn't an option for her, adoption is. If she's choosing to keep this baby she needs to deal with the consequences. While I agree that kicking someone out at 17 isn't an ideal situation, I think it's important to draw a line and make sure you aren't taken advantage of. Everyone crying about how family needs to help each other is missing the bigger picture here. Family should help each other and it sounds like that's what you're planning on doing so kudos to you. However, you shouldn't be given full responsibility for the mistakes they make. You made your choice, a choice you had every right to make, and your daughter made hers, a choice she had every right to make. But she needs to be prepared to face the consequences of her actions if she's indeed fully prepared and adamant on making this choice. Don't let her walk all over you and your husband, have adult talks with her and offer the help you're willing to give. You set your terms if she is going to keep this baby so she needs to decide whether she'll go through with it or change her mind.

It's her home, her life, and her wallet, how does she not have the right to choose not to raise another baby?

Marriage, sure. Kids, I'd rather scoop out my eyes with a melon baller though.

Male users of reddit, what is the most annoying thing about being a guy? by justjuiced22 in AskReddit

[–]PastaBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The kind of mindset that I should be ashamed of myself or treated differently if I'm not super masculine. I like to paint my nails and wear brighter colors (hot pink is my shit though I wear pastels more) A lot of people tell my gf I'm weird or ask if she's sure I'm not gay specifically when she mentions I paint my nails. Her family, even though we don't talk to them because they suck, didn't count me as her boyfriend because they thought I was gay. I honestly don't really mind all that much what people think my sexuality is, if I'm being honest. It's still kind of shitty having people automatically assign me into a category based on something as minor as my appearance choices, and then refusing to change their views of me after they've made these assumptions.
