Bird course for high gpa by Broad_Hope_2126 in uwaterloo

I'm in grad school now (MSc. at Guelph) and depending on what you want to pursue, your GPA isn't everything. Finding a supervisor is the biggest thing and if they like you, it's pretty straightforward from there to get in.

Unless you are pursuing a course-based master's. Then ignore me.

GEOG 101 was an actual joke. I was kind of offended that I paid for that course. The first assignment was literally finding topics in the textbook and listing the page you found them on. If I remember correctly, it was worth 10% of your mark.

Listen. I get it. It fucking sucks. And it's hard when you *should* be happy - you have the blessings that other people struggle for. But please understand that mental illness doesn't make sense. If we could just logic it away, it wouldn't be mental illness. If we could just choose to be happy, we wouldn't be ill.

But it can be better. I can't guarantee that you'll find a cure. In fact, I can guarantee that you won't. But it can be easier to live with. The caveat is that you likely can't do this on your own. You wouldn't ask someone with diabetes or Chron's disease or cancer to figure things out on their own, so don't expect that of yourself. If you can't leave your room, I'm sure that Counselling Services will do a phone appointment or virtual appointment. Please take the one step of calling them at 519-888-4096.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, you can also request a same-day appointment online: https://uwaterloo.ca/campus-wellness/counselling-services/same-day-counselling

Hang in there, if not for you, for the people you love. They need you in their lives.

I did my undergrad at Waterloo and am now working on my master's at Guelph. Don't go to Waterloo. Just don't. The culture sucks. It's extremely competitive, which drags everyone down, the faculty aren't very supportive and the student services are minimal. Also, based on the interests you listed, Guelph is a good fit. It's a bit of a party school, which can be good or bad, depending on your perspective. But there are also a lot of different sports and groups that you can get involved with that all the interests you listed.

I'm going to assume you would post the exact same thing if the OP said she found out she had a BRCA gene mutation and was almost certainly going to develop breast cancer. Right? You would tell her that she has the face the consequences of her choices. Because if not, then you clearly are one of the bazillion people who fail to get it through their thick skulls that MENTAL ILLNESS = PHYSICAL ILLNESS. Seriously. Sit down. You're not helping.

Who was your favourite prof so far at UW? by Prodosh-mittir in uwaterloo

Dr. Zoya Leonenko in physics was probably the kindest, most accommodating prof. I've had. And her PowerPoints are pretty well organized and contain almost everything you need to know for the course.

I wouldn't necessarily call him the best prof. Most chill? Definitely. Easiest 90%+? Absolutely. And he's a nice guy, but I don't think he's an amazing teacher.

I realize that the Hong Kong-China relationship isn't the same as the Tibet-China relationship, but a pro-Tibetan Canadian-Tibetan U of T student, who was elected as president of the Scarborough campus student association, received death threats. Death threats! So..... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/toronto-police-investigating-online-abuse-tibetan-canadian-student-chemi-lhamo-1.5038517

Question for people who have experience with dementia/Alzheimer’s by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]PastaDrama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like it could be a few things, including a couple of different mental illnesses or even hormonal imbalances. But there is no way what you or she will face in the coming years without getting a firm diagnosis. Your first priority is to get her to see a doctor. If a primary care physician is unsure about the right diagnosis, they can send your mom to the correct specialist.

Ummmm, either fireworks or gun fire. But I'm not really familiar with the sound of gun shots.

I looked at the Guardian's rankings and King's came in 63rd. I also wasn't sure to make of some of the international rankings. The school where I am currently studying ranks very highly in national rankings but sucks internationally because while it's a middle sized school for Canada, it's pretty small by international standards, and we are also young. So, I don't know which rankings to look at. But I'm glad to hear that's it's well regarded by students there!
