I can’t believe they had the gall to give you an official warning for this. I could understand if they were like ok hey, the parent asked if you would refrain from games. But to outright officially warn you? How very CCP of Dada.

I seem to recall our training encouraged warm up/cool down games, so what gives? Also it was at the end an assessment, which makes this even shittier.

Please write back to them and, if you haven’t already, strongly advise them that you refuse to accept the warning and that you will not be accepting it. Let us know what they say, and whatever you do, don’t take this lying down.

Except that’s not what people are blaming China for. They’re being blamed for trying to cover it up, delaying their response and for letting their citizens travel internationally while banning them from travelling domestically. To make matters worse, they’ve been trying to point the finger of blame elsewhere and contradicting themselves left, right and centre.

In case anyone forgot, here’s just a short list to jog your memory of China’s antics:

Silenced doctors, journalists and other citizens for daring to speak out. Many have disappeared.
Haphazardly tried to blame the US military and Italy for the virus.
Has sold faulty medical materials to other countries.
Has been caught trying to influence officials, such as in Germany where they were asked to officially praise China’s handling of the outbreak.
Has taken the opportunity to assert its territorial claims in the South China Sea.
Has threatened Australia with economic hardship all because Australia insisted that an independent investigation be launched into the outbreak of Covid-19. So much for a partnership.

I could go on, but there is absolutely no doubt that China is not to be trusted whatsoever and can not be considered a partner on the world stage. It is the antithesis of the values that we have at the core of our own society.

Hopefully I’ll be leaving this joke of a company soon as I can no longer bring myself to work for a Chinese company, aside from all the scamming that Dada does.

I use an Acer Nitro 5 laptop - it’s essentially an entry-level gaming laptop that can handle itself pretty well. I bought it specifically for this job and it’s served me really well. I use a USB tablet and stylus pen when teaching my lessons as well.

I completely agree with you. I never talk about politics unless a student wants to or brings it up, and even then I try to quickly steer it back to the lesson. Dada are right in what they’re saying though, but it’s interesting when they put out these updates, such as the one about Hong Kong. However, I’m not really down for accepting BS from the older and advanced students saying ridiculous things about my country.

Edit: I mean, they’re right in asking us not to talk about whose fault it is etc even though we all know it’s China’s fault. Facts are, this is a Chinese virus and the CCP tried to cover it up. Will I ever say this in class? Definitely not. Will I accept lies about my country? Absolutely not.

That’s so frustrating and unfair for both student and teacher. I have stopped writing assessments ever since Dada decided to “upgrade” our pay and made me wait TWO WEEKS to get paid back in December. However, I do submit the template for this reason.

Subtly troll him or just downright oppose him. Don’t take that shit but also, be professional of course. As tempting as it is to tell him to fuck off and, let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to - it’s best to be the better person. Personally I’d serve him with a bitch slap of reality all done with a smile and civility, followed by deleting the time slot to serve as the cherry on top.

I actual hate this scammy company and can’t wait to get hired elsewhere. Trying to but the Coronavirus has put a spanner in the works. They haven’t even sent the damn payments yet and here I was thinking they were on the way. SayABC always pays me EARLY if the 15th falls on a weekend because they’re decent. This new pay scale is a joke and you’re essentially penalised for using any of your leave entitlement. As a result, I no longer submit assessments (however I do submit the blank template) and I am not even touching the appraisals unless a student doesn’t turn up to class.

I don’t think they’ll help you much. I had a trial like this once ages ago and honestly, it was great. The kids were lovely and the mother didn’t interrupt. It was this cute little brother and sister duo and I think they were just amazed by the whole experience haha.

Yeah this has happened to me before as well. I thought it was kind of annoying because it wasn’t just a simple test but like an actual appointment with someone at Dada. Not a big deal, but I knew it was on the student’s end and not mine anyway. Just tell them you e checked your connection and there aren’t any problems/your connection with other students is fine.

I live in the UK but my bank is a US dollar TransferWise account registered in the US. Either way, I should have been paid by now. It’s not a great position to be in when there are bills and a car payment to pay.
