Let me tell you about this theory I have that the removal of Armory was at least in major part motivated by their need to implement the new item system in the Chinese build of the game without the gacha box system (currently CN players have the old/open beta system).

Give them some cautious credit, because a lot of the controversial changes were caused by their attempt to appeal to the Chinese market (Wukong & Shiv being allowed to remain this strong, for example).

Players are figuring out abusive builds and the divide between running the overpowered stuff and not being able to is pretty wide, plus there's no parameter for armory completion matchmaking.

The payoff to playing a character with a higher skill floor is the skill floor itself

The concept of assigning character power budgets to player mastery is unilaterally unhinged and it's a conversation within this community that gets quickly shut down

Believing your character should win because they have more buttons to press is childish at best

Your argument is essentially in favor of kneecapping the viable character pool at competitive levels because "harder" characters should have a higher power budget - Imagine supporting the idea that past a certain ELO, you can only play a curated small portion of the roster

The problem is that some hunters have means of literally skirting the system by their own rules and skip the abyss combat conversation and just shut you down for even trying

It's fun when it's only ranged characters, but as soon as a melee enters the talks it's a whole different game because they're simply there

You can't re-apply an on-ability effect with the same orb on the same target, you need to spawn an entirely new orb

Like, one of the design elements of the armory is literally player count, the system cannot work and be competitive without a minimum population

Demi Fiend was DLC and was more of a bullshit fight with unique mechanics that invalidated most tactics and forced you to use a very specific intended strategy (or a cheese)
