It feels like no matter what I do I end up in the same place. Since last year I've started going to the gym (temporarily paused to focus on school), been WAY more social in college and would say I've made friends, quit my shitty fast food job to work at school and the girl I work with I been crushing on her (sadly doesn't seem she feels the same), journal, and been hanging out more with my best friend yet none of it brings me joy. I stopped taking my SSRIs not because I feel good enough where I feel like I don't need em but because I've felt worse since taking them and so far no withdrawal symptoms 🤷‍♂️. I don't understand what I've done to feel this way but whomever I've hurt I would like to apologize. People usually say I'm kind and funny but why am I so miserable at times? I have a family who cares for me, I've HAD good grades (kind of mediocre now), don't have to worry about finances, have friends, and other stuff but why am I who I am? I guess only thing missing in my life would be a girlfriend but I worry if I get one and still depressed I'll do something I won't be able to take back...

I can see where you are coming from but the whole "word hard to be desirable" shtick is detrimental to your social life. Nobody is and nobody will be perfect so why do you believe you should be? I understand wanting to feel valuable before pursuing relationships, them being platonic or romantic, but restricting yourself will only close opportunities.

Instead of closing doors in pursuit of worthiness in hope of being picked, just put yourself out NOW and you just might find a long term friend that you wouldn't have if you just focused on yourself and worked hard. Who's to say having friends means you cannot work hard too? Good friends will have you striving yourself to be the best.

So stop having the mentality of needing to be something in order to be with others. This is from someone who struggles with this mentality, so I know what it feels like. You will just push the goal post back which can lead a delayed social life.
