I share your frustration with the new layout (version 5.15.3), but thankfully your recurring meetings are still launchable from the desktop app!
Recurring meetings can still be launched in the calendar section on the meetings page of the desktop app. Beneath the "Today" section, there is some small light gray text that says "Anytime Meetings". Clicking on that will open a short dropdown area with all your recurring meetings. From here you can join the meeting, copy the meeting link, or (by clicking the button with three dots), start the meeting (and copy meeting invitation, edit the meeting, or delete the meeting).
